In L4D my mic works fine while I'm in a lobby waiting for the match to start. Then when I get in game no one can hear me. It worked for the first few hours and now it just won't work.

It works out of game. But not in game.

in options turn up mic pickup or whatever

and go to control panel/sound. Go to the recording tab and double click your mic. Go to the levels tab and put it at 100. Go to either the custom or advanced tab and click mic boost.

That's for vista, it will be similar for XP.

I just bought this new mic today and it has problems with steam. I'm just gonna return it and get a new one.
