SONIC UNLEASHED
Looks like it's mainly 2D. Maybe this will be the first good sonic in the last decade...
Although, by a rule any game with "Unleashed" in the title is usually a disappointment.
Sonic games might be good again...

Yeah, this video was leaked I don't know how long ago. It was on youtube a couple of weeks ago.
Saw it then, and again yesterday.
Looks like it could take us back to the golden days of Sonic.
Or it could fail. Hopefully they don't **** around with poor modeling in the cutscenes.

The camera stays behind sonic for a lot of it, still. They've put too much speed and rapid changes in the environment for this to work as a 2-D game, it'd be nearly impossible to follow. Though I guess some of the parts in this trailer could work as a side scroller.
this looks cool, but unfortunately, so did the 15th anniversary game. That game looked absolutely amazing in every way, and was touted to basically change everything we knew about Sonic games. It was the single most glitchy, linear game I've ever played, I haven't even played through it.
If they can make this more like the first two Sonic Adventures, I'll be content with it.

I disagree
If they backed the camera off about 10 virtual feet, it'd be much like the older Sonic games. There were a lot of rapid changes in those versions as well. You had to really know the course to rip through it with any kind of speed.

The second one, maybe.
The first one was a bit too linear to be an adventure game. They'd have to seriously improve their "open world" theme to include more freedom.
EDIT: and Oh, by the way.
It looks like they've really improved them cutscenes.
Thanks Enfirno.

I think it's a bit early to make any actual statements about the game's quality.
With the 2-D parts they showed, the camera seemed pretty close. If they backed it up I guess it could work.
And I always thought Sonic Adventure 2 was more fun in terms of storyline and in a few levels, non-linearity, but the first one had a lot of good levels that didn't require you to follow a set path too strictly.
As far as cutscenes go, they don't mean much. Remember this?

While not much of a gameplay cutscene, this still looked impressive. All it did was open for one of the shittiest games I've ever played.
My hopes for this game aren't exactly high right now, but we'll see what happens with it.

Yeah, I liked the first one's concept... and a few of the levels worked pretty well.
But it was almost confusing. Some of the "go get 'this'" missions were sort of pointless.
Having to find those rediculous wind and ice stones, while not incredibly difficult, were just annoying.
I also hated the extra card missions they added as a bonus.

Beyond the original trailer, I hadn't seen any of the cutscenes for that game. I was pretty amazed.
The best graphical cutscenes I had seen were the old Sonic Riders ones. My main beef was against the Sonic Adventure/Sonic Heroes cutscenes.

Gamestop has a great return system. I hope now that Nintendo and Sonic Team have gotten better aquainted, this'll debut on Wii. If it sucks, I can return it.
Nothing lost, besides a little more respect for the Sonic franchise, of which I'll still probably remain a fan for the rest of my life.

It looks good but as was already said alot of the sonic games did. To me the only sonic games. I've really liked were the original SEGA versions. Its best to remain as a 2D game. If they made a sonic game with the same general gameplay of the original games but with better graphics I think it would be better than the recent games sega's pulled out of their asses. I'd like to see some more screen shots, videos and such of the actual game play before I can give a fair rating.
