What would you choose?

Muay Thai and Combat Sambo. And I'm really thinking about learning a few techniques from the two styles.

Aikido, ninjitsu and jujitsu. I already did a year or so of jujitsu, but it got boring. I quit, but it would be good to be a 5th dan black belt at it, though I couldn't be bothered trying.

the problem with hapkido is that because it is more aggressive with its joint locks and throws, it wears down the bones etc

aikido is the same, but more gentle to train with, and more focused on redirecting the energy of your opponent's attack

ie if they are play fighting they will not get hurt because they did not put any energy in to the attack; but if they are really trying to hurt you they will get most of their limbs broken and muscles torn

You're closest to the right answer so far, but which type? There's ITF, GTI, TAGB, WTF, UKTA, a whole host of freelance guys who failed at real TKD and decided to make themselves a master, etc.
