You need to know how to install hard-drives properly. I recommend a good google/youtube search. Try formatting/reinstalling OS. I honestly have never installed a HDD, so I recommend you look it up. System32 is vital for windows to run, and so if it's corrupt/missing it aint going to boot up matey. Try booting up the windows disc and repairing your files, or reinstalling.

Probably already Resolved but i'll give you a brief little thing about Windows :
Windows is a complex computer in it's own sense, You must disable the computer before making adjustments to the PC itself or else this can damage/corrupt files and folders which renders them useless, System32 is a folder that basically makes the computer work with files such as NTLDR or NTLoader (i had a problem where i couldn't start up the computer because it said "NTLDR Is Missing" ) they cause the computer to start up and if you do not have those files you've gotta reboot your system (I LOST ALL MY STKS AND PIVS SO THEN I QUIT PIVOT AND THEN I JOINED BACK AGAIN :Cry::Cry::Cry::Cry::Cry:)
One more thing is that the reason you cant reboot your computer is because system32 holds the boot files (which sucks since your cd's useless now) . You'll have to buy a new computer/Laptop.
P.S. Good luck with your computer

You really have no idea pivman. I'll bold my replies.
Seriously, don't take advice from this guy. Just do what I said.

windows is not a computer, it's an operating system

what if you need to change things in the BIOS? And messing around in your PC WILL NOT delete or mess with any files, or anything to do with windows. The worst that could happen is static from your body could short out some hardware, which is why you should wear a static wrist strap.

So the act of simply pressing the on/off button can replace vital windows files that aparrently stop the on/off switch from doing it's job properly? (Actually it would be the BIOS that has all the problems, not booting it up because vital files are missing).

That has nothing to do with the system32 files. You most likely deleted them yourself, forgot and got in a massive hissy fit when you realised what you did 2 weeks later.

umm, no you won't. System32 holds the boot files of the OS, not the whole computer. The first thing the computer does is run everything through the BIOS to check whether it's working. It then checks if you want to do anything other than starting up the OS. All you have to do is put in the windows CD, turn the PC on, start it up, click boot from CD and click repair files. Or you could go into the BIOS settings by hitting "F-something" and changing the boot order.

I tried that, I went to bios and chose boot from CD first and it doesnt it just re-boots then goes back to the "System32 is missing or corrupt" screen. I really need to get this to work. Do you think if i took one of my other hard drives and installed windows on it I could just plug that one in and boot it from that?

I would think so. When does this screen come up? If you change the boot order back to your primary HDD and then boot up, does it give you the option like "click and key to boot from CD...", or does the message come up before then? It's strange that's happening because System32 files aren't even loaded until after it's chosen which drive to boot from and when the windows loading logo comes up.
