Is there anything special I should know? I've heard horror stories about 360s, such as a person getting the signatures wiped off his 360 that was signed by the Bungie team or someone on purpose by the repair center, and people getting back their 360s only to have them give a red ring of death a day after.
I sent it in because it wasn't detecting discs, and I already removed my hard drive.
I have it ready to be sent, but I'm not going to untill I get your oppinions.
Anything special I should know?
Before I mail in my 360

I thought they only repaired hardrive failures (red rings), but whatever. I got mine back in the expected 3-6 weeks with a free month of live. It was all good for me.
If it still doesn't work on return, they're willing to do a 2 week job with 1st class shipping AND microsoft will through in a free game (of some little choice catalog thing).

My sory:
Sent it away UPS lost it for 8 weeks, after 9 360-less weeks, UPS admits theyve lost it, MS sends me a new one, that last for 3 days breaks, I send that one back and get one that works.
The plus's:
They let me keep the hard-drives for every one.
MS sent me a wired controller and a copy of Crackdown as compensation.

No, just send it. Microsoft is actually really good about repairs in most cases. When I got mine back, it was really loud whenever it turned on. We called Microsoft and they offered to send it back with priority shipping plus a free game (they only offered Viva Pinata in my case).

Actually, they'll repair it for free for anyone who gets a ring of death. They will repair any problem you have if you are under warranty or if you fork over $90.

Send it, and good luck.

I got the 3RoD, sent it off, got sent back a new console within a month, with a months free LIVE.
Lost my profile and gamerpoints and all that, but i'm not the type of person to obsess over it, only lost like 8K GP anyways.
Should be fine though.
Just send it off.

Yeah, I know about the fee. I just assumed you were sending it free. However, I realize that you probably wouldn't have made this thread if you weren't paying for it.
Carry on.

When I sent mine away it took 10 weeks for a new one to arrive but as compensation I got a controller and a Play and Charge Kit. Oh and a free month of live.
