Dancing with the Devil is deepest song ever. No questions.

[Verse 1]
I once knew a nigga whose real name was William
his primary concern, was making a million
being the illest hustler, that the world ever seen
he used to **** moviestars and sniff coke in his dreams
a corrupted young mind, at the age of thirteen
nigga never had a father and his mom was a feen
she put the pipe down, but forever yeah she was sober
her sons heart simultaneously grew colder
he started hanging out selling bags in the projects
checking the young chicks, looking for hit and run prospects
he was fascinated by material objects
but he understood money never bought respect
he build a reputation cause he could hustle and steal
but got locked once it didn't hesitate to squeal
so criminals he chilled with didn't think he was real
you see me and niggaz like this have never been equal
I dont project my insurecurity's at other people
he feeded for props like addicts with pipes and needles
so he felt he had to prove to everyone he was evil
a fever minded young man with infinite potetial
the product of a ghetto breed capatalistic mental
coincidentally dropped out of school to sell weed
dancing with the devil, smoked until his eyes would bleed
but he was sick of selling trees and gave in to his greed

[Hook]
Everyone trying to be trife never face the consequences
you propably only did a month for minor offences
ask a nigga doing life if he had another chance
but then again there's always the wicked at new and advanced
dance forever with the devil on a code cell block
but thats what happens when you rape, murder and sell rock
devils used to be gods, angels that fell from the top
there's no diversity because we're burning in the melting pot

[Verse 2]
So Billy started robbing niggaz, anything he could do
he'd get his respect back, in the eyes of his crew
starting fights over little shit, up on the block
stepped up to selling mothers and brothers the crack rock
working overtime for making money for the crack spot
hit the jackpot and wanted to move up to cocaine
for filling the scarface fantasy stuck in his brain
tired of the block niggaz treating him the same
he wanted to be major like the cut throats and the thugs
but when he tried to step to 'em, niggaz showed him no love
they told him any mother****ing coward can sell drugs
any bitch nigga with a gun, can bust slugs
any nigga with a red shirt can front like a blood
even Puffy smoked the mother****er up in a club
but only a real thug can stab someone till they die
standing in front of them, starring straight into their eyes
Billy realized that these men were well guarded
and they wanted to test him, before business started
suggested raping a bitch to prove he was cold hearted
so now he had a choice between going back to his life
or making money with made men, up in the cife
his dreams about cars and ice, made him agree
a hardcore nigga is all he ever wanted to be
and so he met them friday night at a quarter to three

[Hook]

[Verse 3]
They drove around the projects slow while it was raining
smoking blunts, drinking and joking for entertainment
untill they saw a woman on the street walking alone
three in the morning, coming back from work, on her way home
and so they quietly got out the car and followed her
walking through the projects, the darkness swallowed her
they wrapped her shirt around her head and knocked her onto the floor
this is it kid now you got your chance to be raw
so Billy oaked her up and grapped the chick by the hair
and dragged her into a lobby that had nobody there
she struggled hard but they forced her to go up the stairs
they got to the roof and then held her down on the ground
screaming shut the **** up and stop moving around
the shirt covered her face, but she screamed the clouts
so Billy stomped on the bitch, until he broken her jaw
the dirty bastards knew exactly what they were doing
they kicked her until they cracked her ribs and she stopped moving
blood leaking through the cloth, she cried silently
and then they all proceeded to rape her violently
Billy was meant to go first, but each of them took a turn
ripping her up, and choking her until her throat burned
a broken jaw mumbled for god but they weren't concerned
when they were done and she was lying bloody, broken and broos
one of them niggaz pulled out a brand new twenty-two
they told him that she was a witness of what she'd gone through
and if he killed her he was guaranteed a spot in the crew
he thought about it for a minute, she was practicly dead
and so he leaned over and put the gun right to her head

[Sample from "Survival of the Fittest" by Mobb Deep]
I'm falling and I can't turn back
I'm falling and I can't turn back

[Verse 4]
Right before he pulled the trigger, and ended her life
he thought about the cold pain with the platinum and ice
and he felt strong standing along with his new brothers
cocked the gat to her head, and pulled back the shirt cover
but what he saw made him start the cringine studder
cuz he was starring into the eyes of his own mother
she looked back at him and cried, cause he had forsaken her
she cried more painfully, than when they were raping her
his whole world stopped, he couldn't even contiplate
his corruption had succesfully changed his fate
and he remembered how his mom used to come home late
working hard for nothing, cause now what was he worth
he turned away from the woman that had once given him birth
and crying out to the sky cause he was lonely and scared
but only the devil responded, cause god wasn't there
and right then he knew what it was to be empty and cold
and so he jumped off the roof and died with no soul
they say death take you to a better place but I doubt it
after that they killed his mother, and never spoke about it
and listen cause the story that I'm telling is true
cuz I was there with Billy Jacobs and I raped his mom to
and now the devil follows me everywhere that I go
infact I'm sure he's standing among one of you at my shows
and every street cypher listening to little thugs flowe
he could be standing right next to you, and you wouldn't know
the devil grows inside the hearts of the selvish and wicked
white, brown, yellow and black colored is not restricted
you have a self destructive destiny when your inflicted
and you'll be one of gods children and fell from the top
there's no diversity because we're burning in the melting pot
so when the devil wants to dance with you, you better say never
because the dance with the devil might last you forever

IT is probably the best 'underground' rapper behind Talib Kweli.

Hey guys, I agree with this person, as he is obviously musically knowledgeable with a more diverse and sophisticated taste than all of you.

Why, just like he did, I stopped reading those lyrics as soon as I read the first line. Just from that one line it became apparent to me that the song in question belonged to a genre which is universally agreed to "suck", therefore I had to discontinue reading it to point out the foolishness of those naive masses who enjoy what was obviously meaningless crunk rap churned out of the corporate music machine.

How can you possibly enjoy this music if it belongs to a genre that sucks so much?

Because you so needed to tell us that.

HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT! I JUST GOT UP FROM MY CHAIR TO GO USE TAKE A PISS! I JUST THOUGHT I SHOULD TELL YOU THIS BECAUSE IT IS SO USEFUL AND DEFINITELY NOT TROLLING! :Ohhhhh:

Notice how the people that think the genre sucks call it "rap".

Immortal Technique is probably the best underground rapper behind Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and the rest of the Hieroglyphics.

lol Pirate.

Wow. He was the second person to say that today...

I quickly read through most of the song and the lyrics are, as you said, deep. I can't enoy this song as much as everyone else becasue I don't really like rap but I have to agree these lyrics are good. It kinda tells a story but rappers really overuse the word "nigga." It might not sound as serious without it but...it is overused.

Why should you care if they use that word so much? Rappers use the word "nigga" as much as emo rock bands use the word "bleed" or metal bands use the word "death/die". Honestly, how many rock bands do you listen to that have a "PARENTAL ADVISORY - EXPLICIT CONTENT" sticker slapped onto it. The word "nigga" shouldn't affect you anymore than the word "fuck" or "shit" and the use of the word "nigga" in hip-hop shouldn't be a reason to hate rap especially since you aren't the race the word is targetted at.

And in any case, this isn't the thread to discuss your opinions on the methods of hip-hop musicians. Just because the thread is about a rapper it doesn't give you the ability to discuss the reasons you dislike rap, just as if there was a thread about System of a Down, I wouldn't start discussing the reasons I dislike nu-metal.

Uh...I wrote my opinion on the song, too...do you hate me because I don't like rap? I didn't say that I didn't like rap because they use that word a lot I just said they used that word alot. Even if I'm not that race it is a really offensive term. It really isn't that bad to state your opinion.

EDIT: Yes, a lot of the bands I listen to curse a lot but (even though I'm not black) I think nigger is worse than **** or shit.

I don't hate you. I just feel it's unnecessary to come into a thread and talk about how much you hate a genre just because someone a thread was made with an artist from the genre.

So because you were somewhat on topic in one part of your post, that gives you the privilage to go off topic in the rest of your post? That would be like if you made a thread for SoaD and I posted one sentence about them and then made a whole extra paragraph about how nu-metal sucks. If you don't like a music genre, then what are you doing posting in a thread made by an artist of the music genre? No one's forcing you to look at this thread. If you want to get your post count higher, do it in the Chat Thread. But if you want to state your opinion, state your opinion about the artist, not the entire genre itself. Just because this thread is about a rapper it doesn't have a sign on it that says "HEY DISCUSS THE ENTIRE GENRE OF HIP-HOP HERE!"

Notice how the people who hate the genre call it "rap". Another archive of a misunderstood genre.

Now if you'll do us all a favor, can you please take yourself and your ever-so needed opinions about the whole entire genre elsewhere that doesn't cause disruption to this thread? I'd really like to get some song requests from Krob because I've heard of IT before but never had a chance to get into him.

You are the only one that seems to care about other people posting their opinions. I'm just wondering why? I'll leave after this.

(A lot of people are probably going to come and back you up on caring about opinions :P)

Will you stop taking this out of context and exaggerating it to the point where it looks like I'm attacking you? If you had read the first part of my last post, you would have seen why I'm taking this into concern. When someone posts a thread about an artist, it's generally for people who share the same preferences. And regarding that, posting about how much you don't like the genre the song belongs to is unnecessary. Have your zero preference based opinions about rap all you want, but not in a thread where someone's just trying to show his musical preferences. Opinions are fine, but if it's just from a misunderstood point of view, it's best to keep it to yourself. No one asked you how you felt about hip-hop. This is a thread about a rapper and that's it. Everyone has an opinion and is entitled to their opinion. But there is a time and place for certain opinions. And judging by the fact that you'll be quick to judge rap just from seeing the name of a rapper, I wouldn't be surprised if you were to voice your opinions about it if you heard someone listening to it on their iPod. Look at it this way, if you're an atheist, you wouldn't go into a church, walk up to the alter and start talking about how much you think the whole Jesus and God thing is a load of baloney, would you? Or if you're a Christian, you wouldn't go into a synegouge and tell the Jews how much you think Judaeism is all wrong would you? (I don't know your faith. Pick either example you like.)

It seems like almost everytime someone posts a thread about a rapper here, someone else has to follow up with a full diagnostic on the entire genre, as if posting a thread with the name of an artist from a certain genre gives them the privilage to spew rap hate into the thread. I notice I see none of it whenever someone posts a thread under any of the various subgenres for rock. So why should hip-hop be an exception. Come on people, be a little bit fair for once.

And don't even get that notion into your head about people backing me up. Lately, people see a post of mine with a couple paragraphs and, without reading it, immediately assume I starting a bitch fit. They'll probably think the same thing for this post, too.

Atmosphere is the greatest rapper(s) (I'm pretty sure more than one person is involved with Atmosphere) alive.
Though I will give Immortal Technique his much deserved props.
