That's right, science is about to not end the world. In fact, it might just save our species.

So quit whining about the Hadron collider for 10 seconds and grasp your mind around sustainable fusion. I'm not saying it's going to work, but it's better to hope than to worry.

Just more power to create bigger black holes with the Hadron collider. Lol jk.
Awesome stuff though I'm really intrigued by all these crazy science projects.

I'm humming the Star Wars theme song in my head as we speak

I'd prefer to use it to shoot holes in the moon.

It would be awesome if some Aliens decided to come and attack us tomorrow, and we were all like "go away bitches, have some ah mah lazer!" and then we all blew ourselves up.

For those of you that don't know, this is exactly what Doctor octopus was making in Spider-Man 2: a machine that could create sustainable fusion. This will likely solve the world's energy problem for good if it's sucessful.

All well and good until someone can weaponize it. /cynic.

So now all we need is a crazy old scientist whose wife gets killed in the experiment and goes on a crimespree after he blames a spandex clad super human for the tragedy.

This sounds quite alright if you ask me. What could possibly go wrong..?:heh:

Except using tritium was a stupid sci-fi mistake. Hydrogen is the real deal because the hydrogen atoms fuse into tritium.
Perhaps having giant self-aware claws was a problem too.

Did anyone ever whine in a serious manner about this? I remember everyone joking about it, but did people really expect it to destroy the Earth?

This sounds interesting, however I am baffled at why it is getting so little media attention.
May 30, 2009 7:58 PM #428516
Cos it won't happen for a few years yet. In the weeks running up to the experiment there'll be a big media storm but until then few people care as it doesn't immediately effect them.
