No you don't have to take a step to kick, I just did it to prove this...watch some martial art practice sessions and you will see, they practice stationary kicks.

If it's a stationary kick, the guy will have to move his foot back a bit further to counterbalance the reaction of the kick. Also, the arms look mad awkward as Cronos said, but other than those it's pretty good. Make it longer. ;0

actually you don't have to move the foot backwards further too do a stationary kick, but it will make the animation look better and with more force.

Just kick now and get you foot back at that place , I felt forward.

Yea the guy is a bit stiff. The arms need a bit movement when kicking to show a bit of force
