DVD drive doesnt recognize dvds

Did you put the dvd in upside down?

NTG I had the same thing, and the only thing that fixed it was a format and re-installing of the driver.
But is this what is happening to you?
1. Insert DVD
2. Doesn't pop up and ask to play it somehow
3. When you double click on the DVD drive is says it doesn't exist.
4. You put a CD in there and it reads it?

thats exactly whats happening dude, i figured i had to install a driver or something

Yeah, well the only thing that fixed that for me was a format and a reinstall of the driver, as it gave me a error message when I tried to reinstall the driver without the format. But granted my compute did have a shit load of viruses + CPU fan running at 1/16 of the minimum speed.
