Some people have a form of color blindness that does not make them color blind, but infact makes them view colors differently.

Erm, no, they don't. This doesn't exist. The only thing anywhere close to what you are describing is when colorblindness causes a person to have colors blend together, they don't change altogether.

And a few posts earlier, youa sked what a color wheel has to do with anything:

The colors on a color wheel are arranged in such a way that colors opposite each other are in fact opposite colors: they make brown or grey when mixed, and clash completely. They also don't share any of the sam primary colors: red doesn't have blue or yellow, which make green, the opposite color of red. Red and green clash horribly, and cause lots of confusion to the eyes.

These facts remain true no matter who sees the color wheel, making the claim even more unlikely.

Thanks for explaining the color wheel thing. That really confused me.

Firstly:

45 degrees Kelvin would be hot for anything!

45 Kelvin is -228.15 celcius. Very few things would find that hot.

Secondly, I think there is a great deal of evidence in favour of this hypothesis, in the form of colourblindness. People with red-green colourblindness for example, cannot tell the difference between red and green, ergo their perception of the two colours is the same. For the rest of us, the perception of the two colours are very different, therefore people perceive different colours in different ways.

Hah! I told you! People can perceive colors differently, instead of making them black and white!

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. Any student of art will tell you that opposite colors are actually scientifically proven to look good next to each other. Red and Green, Blue and Orange, and Yellow and Purple, are all very pleasing color combinations. Opposite colors are called complementary colors, because they complement each other so nicely.

For example, look at the Agressive or the Pshycadelic moods.

How the hell is that QED?

I rarely get the chance to put QED anywhere - this looked close. I was hoping no one would pick me up on it in a literal sense.

Not exactly. You are saying that they'll see one color as another color. Percieving them both as being grey isn't the same as seeing another color in its place.

@Dragon: You're right, I don't know why I was thinking of them as being clashing. After all, they are "complementary" colors, meaning they complement each other well.

Maybe our language influence our perception of colours. Think of all the different tones of blue, and their names. Marine blue, cyan, teal, azure, aqua, alize, aquamarine, and much more.
If two people look at those different tones, and are then asked to name them, one who knows the different colours and names will probably be able to perceive them, while one who doesn't can probably only distinguish light, dark, and medium blue, and when looking back at the event, will only remember those three colours.
We did an experiment on that in class, and the number of tones the people in class were able to perceive varied greatly.

Ha, the only thing I remember QED for is as "Quite Easily Done" and for math proofs and such.

QED means quod erat demonstradum which is what you say when you are finished giving undeniable proof of something.

If you're refering to me, I prefer arse or wanker. Pedant and arrogant cock also apply, but I have yet to see what relation I bear to a wild donkey.

On topic; I admit that colourblindness isn't an absolute proof like a mathematical one would be so QED doesn't really apply, but it's damn close. Unless we allow for the possibility that people are lying, colourblindness shows that colours are perceived differently by different people, whether it's in the clarity around the edges, complete colour reversal, or just seeing in black and white.
