Protip: Games don't make your computer "lag". Lag is referred to having difficulties in an online game, where the game will basically freak out in an abnormal way.

I get annoyed when my friend says "Man, my PC lagging" when his computer just can't run a ****ing offline game.

To lazy to look for a "coughcoughaquired* version of windows XP 64bit.

Oh well just a gig of ram. My computer runs incredibly fast enough for me as it is.

I don't have any money, I don't really want to pirate it (can't this get you viruses?) and my dad refuses to pay any money for XP, or more ram.

You gota learn how and where to put it. There are different types of RAM slots, and it might happen that your mobo can only recognise 4. I have 4 slots for my RAM, but I don't think 2 of them will recognise more than a certain amount or something like that.

It's a bit out of my area here, as I've never dealt with RAM before.

Nope, it because of the accumulator in your CPU. It can only assign 2^12 memory locations and hence will only use 4Gb of RAM, it simply can't recognise anymore.
