So, I'm trying to create a private minecraft server, but I'm on a mac. It says that when you use a mac, your supposed to...

To start the server, run "start server.bat" on windows. On any other system, the command you want is:
java -cp minecraft-server.jar com.mojang.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer

So I'm supposed to go into the terminal, navigate to the folder, then what?
I'm going to ignore your post if you tell me to get a different computer...

Open Terminal, and do the usual crap and then the folder it opens would be the private servers stored info folder I suppose, then you'd just continue with the instructions.

Well you just said you used terminal to navigate to the folder which is basicaly what it's doing with the script. As far as I can see, their instuctions seam to be more based on somone running a self scripted linux OS rather than Mac OSX. I don't see why you want to bother with a private server anyway, SPP has one and if you want to play alone, you have single player.

And about that thing miniman posted, he doesn't own a mac meaning it's a poor computer etc etc and he's trying to draw a response from you about that by saying its laughable to try and use them for game based operations, report him for trolling or something if it bothers you.

Ah, I see. I just want a private server so me and my friends can build some shit without griefers or people building stupid shit on our server.
