Stormwalker, I dislike the argument that "pivot is a good starting place". Why not just start in flash, so you develop the basic skills early in your animating career instead of having to do it later which you switch from pivot? Or perhaps you won't even switch, because you can't be bothered learning flash. This leads to people only ever using pivot, and defeats the whole purpose of it being a beginner program.

It does deserve a little respect, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has access to flash, a much deeper and more professional program. If you have both and choose pivot, then in my opinion you're ignorant or even arrogant.

About the whole "I'm a bad artist so pivot is a better choice fo me" bullshit.

If you're a bad artist and you want to animate you should take into account that animation is a DRAWING art form. Unless you plan on dropping out of animation at pivot you'll be seeing a LOT of ****ing drawing around. I mean even for people who do stickfigures with line tool you have backgrounds and effects to draw.

Also if you plan on dropping out at pivot then I suggest you don't defend it KNOWING that the skills you aquire practicing in it gets you almost no where. Pivot is unique, but its so unique that it turns into a bad thing.

Stop it with this bullshit. It's not like Pivot has secret merits you know and we don't. It's takes simple logic and common sense to know what you're denying.

Pivot sucks because it makes you a lazy animator. You can use it as a starting place, sure, but that'll hinder your progress more than you know. Start with Easytoon instead. It uses traditional frame-by-frame drawn animation, which is a discipline you must learn if you want to become a good animator.

you guys realize that pivot uses similar concepts to those used in 3D animation, right?

the only difference is with 3D animation you move dots around IN THREE DIMENSIONS

also you only have to change every 10 or so frames instead of all of them and the program does the rest

i think i might be the only one who thinks pivot is extremely difficult to animate with

why not just use flash in the first place? if you can't use it but want to animate you really just need to give up on life
