Only a few movies I've seen had the audience clapping afterwards.

Ya, people clap after climactic blockbusters like transformers. However, no one clapped in my theater too. Everyone just kind of scurried out, which I found kind of ironic. No happy ending. No definitive conclusion. No one claps.

My opinion: I thought it was very good. I really liked the style and I thought the use of the documentary setup was great. Since the camera becomes very omniscient and sees all the important things, the documentary shots remind you that the public doesn't get this info. It helps ground the sci-fi aspects of it too. It's a nice twist and it makes the ending more emotional.

Pros: The plot was good. The characters are unique and all have importance. The action was top notch. The digital aliens all look great with tons of detail and moving parts.

Cons: I had 2 problems overall: the gore and the pacing. I'm pretty desensitized to gore, so I'm not going to bitch out here. I thought that they made some mistakes by over doing the gore. For example: while handing out the evictions, they show the MNU guy getting his hands ripped off. If they cut that part/reworked it to just having the prawn try to run or attack, then the end scene where the guy gets decapitated would be more of an "OSHIT" moment. I also didn't really appreciate the make-people-pop-like-grapes gun. It shoots lightning and then people explode into a gory pulp. Why not just have it shoot lightning and destroy stuff. That seems to fit into the alien arsenal a lot better. The vortex gun was definitely my favorite, which is why I didn't like that people popper gun.

My second complaint would be the pacing around suspenseful moments. "They said they wanted you alive, but I'm going to kill you myself .....soon. Just long enough for something to interrupt me in the next 20 seconds". Or let's not forget, "Now, cut off his arm. Be sure to show a shot of all of our faces at least twice, then let's just loiter while we have him pinned and savor the moment". It kind of made a pattern of bad things are imminent but don't start while an opportunity to turn the tide is revealed and eventually fixes everything.

Still a great movie and I would still rate it highly. I liked the acting a lot more when he was doing the improv rather then working "FOOK" into every line of the script.

I don't know, something tells me a futuristic alien lightning bolt gun would in fact do as much as it did.

SPOILERS

Also the part where the dude takes off his cast and banadages and his alien arm first extends was kind of creepy also, like how you could see the remains of his human flesh that was torn outwards from the grown alien arm.

I don't know, I heard alot of people didn't like it. I ****ing loved it. There better be a sequel. It also kind of made me sad (sensitive fag i know) and kinda got to me. LOL

SPOILERS

Dudeman: The lightning gun made me lol. That gun made things less gorey, it just made everything pop away. The "sex with the prawn" part also made me LOL. And I'm like uber desensitized to gore too. But the alien gore kind of got to me, probably cuz they were nasty as shit to begin with LOL. Christophers son was mad cute though. And all movies h ave that suspenseful "OMFG YOU CUOLD HAVE JUST KILLED HIM" moment.

SPPPPPPPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL

Lol yea. I couldn't take it seriously. That's what I had a problem with. Everything else was grounded and realistic. Then all of a sudden the auto-aiming lightning popper kills someone and I just chuckled. Then there's always a giant blood splatter like when the prawn blood splashed all over (and exclusively on) wikus during the experiments.

It's things like that which detract from the "OSHIT" moments like the uber awesome headshot.

Exactly!

Or when they were about to kill chris it took them long enough for vickers to run away, stop, think for a bit, then turn around, come back, and shoot everyone. Same with the witch doctor bit.

And what's wrong with that IMDB quote?

Ya. I have nothing against dramatic moments like when wikus opens up his exosuit to talk tho Chris. It's important dialogue and I don't care if they pause for it. But it became really noticeable when they just linger on suspenseful moments. Could've used some polish with the editing.

Also, nothing is directly wrong with the quote. It's for their parental advisory list. It's just funny that they describe it in detail and put it on the list.

Eh, I thought the pacing was good.

I laughed when they talked about aliens having sex with humans. I loved the different take on aliens. For once in a movie, they were at the mercy of us. I am surprised there was no alien revolt at anytime because they had they strength, suits, and weapons to blow the FOOK outta the humans.

Oh and FOOK.
