On my memory stick, I have a virus that hides most of my folders (one remaining unaffected for reasons unknown), and then proceeds to make an identical copy of each one. These copies are .exes, and I suppose the point of the virus is to use up space with doubles.
HELP, I've formatted the memory stick and tried manually fixing it. Neither worked permanently...
Virus...

It is possibly also on your computer if it keeps coming back. I recommend getting a superior virus scanner, like Kaspersky Internet Security.
It also has the option to scan USB devices that have been plugged in, which is nifty especially if you use public computers occasionally (example: school computers).
Also be careful where you plug your USB, and change your folder settings so that you can see hidden files and folders...

Well so far my computer has remained unaffected.
And if I hadn't put both the options to show hidden files and show file extensions then I would be oblivious to this virus' plot.
I've got AVG, and I scanned all the files after formatting my memory stick...
Also, it seems to only happen when I take it out/insert it. While its plugged in it works fine after I manually unhide the folders and delete the .exes, so the virus isn't active all the time. I'm thinking its just a bit that executes on insertion or when you take it out.
EDIT: Ok I found another symptom...

Has anyone come across this before?

If it is doing things to your context menus, it is definitely affecting your computer...

You could download a few programs to try to clear it out.
Super Anti Spyware.
Malware Bytes
Crap Cleaner
Just scan with those, see if that helps.

I read something in a computer magazine.
They say if you press Shift while inserting the memory stick, it blocks autorun, so the virus won't be able to do shit. You can give it a try.
