Also, I'm not that up to speed with the finner points of American Football. I know the basics though. ie, basic formations, who does what, rules etc.

Also, just clarify, football has it's own fantasy leagues, a lot of them.
It's pretty ignorant to assume we don't, we're the largest sport in the world so **** your padded asses, pussys.

That's perfectly OK and I'm going to address both these points here.
For those who want to be in this league but don't know too much about football or even fantasy football for that matter, don't worry. There are more resources online than you will know what to do with.
Here is a basic run down of how fantasy football works.
tl;dr: basically, we do a draft where everyone takes turns picking players to fill their team. You are trying to pick players that will score the most fantasy points. Fantasy points are calculated based on how many yards a player gets and (of course) how many touchdowns a player scores. Before each weeks' games you have to set your lineup (only the players that you designate your starters will earn points), and play close attention to which players are going against bad defenses each week. Most drafts consist of about 16 rounds and teams consist of runningbacks, wide receivers, tight ends, defenses, kickers, and, of course, quarterbacks.
Here is a fantasy football "cheat sheet." Basically, this is what the "experts" have ranked the players. You will want one of these in front of you when you draft so you know who is good and who isn't. There are literally hundreds of these online, so do a google search if you want more as each one will be a little different and offer different opinions.
That's the basics of it right there. If you want to get a little bit deeper, you can always read up on guys who are considered sleepers, busts, and other predictions.
Another great article for getting ready that I highly recommend reading exists here: http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?page=NFLDK2K9_Manifesto
So that basically wraps up the basics of it (a little long, I know). If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Yeah, why not? I'll join.
I might even try to watch some games, after all, it is essentially two dozen Americans being put into an arena to fight to the death. The only way the concept could be better is if they had clubs. Oh, wait, that's lacrosse.
Whatever: in.

Someone misconstrued the white to black ratio in football.

Stick to your hoops, leave the football to use redneck folk.

Hey, you guys got every other position in football on lock. We got our runningbacks. Let's see a white redneck play halfback.
