Hi all, I used to be a big time member on this forum and I got my start in animating here, i used to go by the name of manfreak (LOL) if that means anything to any1. anyways ive been working on a new thief animation, heres a link to my animation page on NG: http://manfreak.newgrounds.com/flash/
and i just wanted some opinions on it so far from those who have and havent played the game. its about 50% done i think.

i was gonna do this on the NG forum but then i realised, im a stick animator, i started here so u guys deserve to see it first (besides those on ttlg.com). PLEASE do not upload this anywhere.

Its nice looking but there wasnt actually alot of movement, you may aswell do it fullbody.

Did you tween everything?

wow this is not wat i was expecting. there isnt much movement yet but there will be. and yes i tween alot but wats wrong with that? i also do alot of fbf but im not at those bits in the cartoon yet. the bit where he jumps onto the barrel was fbf.

It needs easing. Easing is acceleration and decceleration of movements.

The underscores are the spaces between frames.

You can't get that effect with tweening.

ofcourse, thankyou. what about if i added fingers. never animated fingers on sticks before but they seem popular, no doubt it will be hard.

edit: is there a tutorial on stick fingers anywhere lol?

These guys are so used to seeing crap they can't appreciate good work when they come to it!

Sure, the animation isn't perfect, but overall the quality is very high. Entertaining, the only non-animation criticism (the animation was good enough, by the way) is that you need to make sure you break apart your text for the rotating shots, you can clearly see the letters wobble otherwise. Still, good persistence if you managed to make something this long WITH an actual point to it. Bravo!

Still, I was bummed out when it cut off, I was expecting some big payoff for all this sneaky behavior. The only thing I don't get is why he had to get past a guard just to get into that pub...

thx man. that pub shot seems to confuse people but i cant realy do much about it and yeh theres gonna be some awsome sneaking and an epic chase so itle be a big payoff dont u worry

This is actually pretty good. It has good backgrounds and artwork, and its entertaining to watch. I dont care at all about the tweening, cause it still delivered a good animation. The wobbily words while reading the paper distracted me a lot though.

I agree for him to finish it and it will be great but this is the animation section and thats what im going to judge it on. Sure the arts good and builds up alot of cinematic effect but i hope in the next part we see there will be alot more "animation" and not just tweens.

Well imo if tweens work, then they work.

I'm feeling that you instinctively think that tweens are bad.

Nonono. I don't think the animation is bad , I'm just telling him ways to improve it, and one way would be to fbf it.

I liked it. Love your graphics and animation is smooth. Story is pretty interesting. But again - work a bit more on easing and finish it. (:

im not saying tweens are bad, just boring unless they are used to the extent of ghostfight by justsolo
