I just bought a PS1. Anyone know if it needs to be modded to play burnt games?

let me google that for you.

I tried 3 permutations of the question, none was conclusive. Now I turn to SPP.

I'm 80% sure I modded my PS2 to do that because it wouldn't by default. Since that's even older, I'd go with yes.

The PS2's inability to read burnt discs was actually a feature, not a failure of the technology. They added some stuff to make sure it couldn't play copied discs.

So then just burn a CD and see if PS1 plays it, smarty-pants.

Why would I waste a CD burning an ISO that I wasted time downloading?

Because it's less of a hassle than asking a forum full of people you really should have known wouldn't give you a straight answer?

PSX should be able to run burned games without mods. I remember playing a burned version of some Crash games.

What the ****? No it's not. A forum doesn't cost a CD and a 5 day wait for some idiot who can't seed properly.

Yeah, you can copy a CD you already own or just have iTunes make a CD for you. And who burns CDs anymore anyway? I bet you have a bunch of blank CDs sitting around that you'd probably otherwise never use.
I gave you my answer based on my non-Google knowledge. I'm sure since you know about the history of PS2's anti-modding business that you could find out the information you require. Oh, and guess what? You're going to burn a game eventually to play on it (otherwise, why ask this question?), so why wouldn't you just burn that game and see if it works. If it doesn't, you have to mod it. I'm sort of baffled by your hostility, friend.

why are you downloading ps1 games from ****ing torrents? bro, get your ass to emuparadise
also try this
nsert your original CD.
o Remove the original CD when the motor changes to 2x and replace it
with your backup CD.
[If you did this right, you *SHOULD* see the black PS screen now.]
o Watch and listen to the CD motor. It will slow down and then
speed back up to 2x.
o After a few seconds, the CD motor will slow down again. Replace
with your original CD once again.
o After another half second or so, the original CD will speed up again.
Finally replace your backup CD.

I always thought you needed to get a chip put into your ps1 ect, to play burnt games. It's especially usefull if you buy games from balli, or somewhere like that, because they are all pretty much pirated.
Sep 28, 2009 6:22 AM #493011
yes it costs around 100 dollas

No, I don't actually. I'll have to go out and but a pack of discs.
And iTunes can't burn ISOs as far as I know, not sure why you mentioned it.

Because then I'd be out 5 dollars that I could have used on food or something if the game doesn't read the disc. I'm not planning on getting a mod chip.
