How do people have like moving animated profile pictures... i tried putting mine on and it said invalid something blah blah ._.

Yes, it is allowed. It's called an animated .gif and you need to animate something on flash and export it as an animated .gif OR you can animate on pivot and export that.
If the file size is too large, SPP won't allow you to have it as your avatar.

Oh, I'd thought he was referring to your profile image, not your avatar. Are animated profile images prohibited?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they are.
Brainstick, to upload as animated. Gif on Flash, go to File > Export > Export Movie > then save it as an animated .Gif.
