You know, Google and Wikipedia are there for a reason. Can you just not look up, "Definition of: Software"? Also, would it kill you to use some proper grammar and punctuation? I mean, Jesus Christ.

Basically, in a very basic form, every program on your computer that you can execute is software.
So, of course Pivot is software.
Also, for fuck's sake, get a dictionary. Because, what the shit, dude.

Every computer has bits of hardware on them, this are the things such as optical drives, motherboards, mice, keyboards, etc. On this hardware, software MUST be ran for it to operate. Your operating system is a huge piece of software that helps you run your system. And every little program on your little system, is software. Such as, your web browser, pivot animator, Microsoft Word. No animating software is $12,000.00, and you can find and that Pivot AND EasyToon is free. Only Flash is for sale, and definately NOT for 12,000 bones.
