So, started to create a song, better than my previous songs (Credz to some person on youtube for inspiring my melody (took his first few notes)).

CC and does anyone have any ideas how I can carry this on? It's meant to be monotonous because it's sort of acid/hardstyle I guess, but I was thinking of introducing a second melody and jazzing it up a bit with some effects (Once I've practiced).
All ideas welcomed.

Working on bringing the volume down cuz it's way too loud, but for now just turn the volume down.

Yeah haven't made a bassline yet (well I have but I muted it because it sounded crap).
Can't remember name of said person, but doesn't matter because it's not as if I really needed to give credz anyway.
And not really going for that type of song (fully hardstyle), trying to get a bit more melody in.

Sounds kinda choppy at parts. I like its potential though. Keep at it.

The lead is way too jumpy for my taste. Also: Compressors. Learn them. Love them.
It sounds alright, it's just nothing really special. I'm interested to see where you go with this, though.

By choppy do you mean fuzzy? Like when something's too loud? If so I could really do with some expert advice on how to fix it, it seems the volume doesn't make a difference to it as I've turned all my samples and effects down to about half way.
Also does this sound any better?

Still think the volume is an issue though, amirite?

That was @Real.
Can you explain what you mean by "jumpy"? I'm changing the melody soon so I'll leave the current one the way it is but take what you say into account for the next. Also, I need to learn about compressors, haven't used one yet.

Compressors and Limiters. You should read about them on wikipedia because it's indeed better to know what they're doing and then go for some free ones. Those help with the clipping, aka the "fuzzyness" and are also important for volume and mix regulation in general.

Shows how little I know, I thought you meant the "fruity compressor" effect or some equivalent.

Aww what the hell? I didn't even know this forum existed. Does anyone even come here?

Haven't done any more to it yet, been making lots of other practices with compression. Need to get that up to par first.

Well the Fruity Compressor is a compressor, it's just not a good one. :/
Maximus is a good one. Or BLOCKFISH.

Yeah so far I've just been using fruity compressor, will download some other ones when I get the hang of it. So far this is what I've got with adding a soft compressor to the master channel and a compressor to the drums:

I have a couple of questions:
1) Can you give me any tips on compressing please? I know what everything does, but do you have any tips on, say, a good ratio for drums like mine? I've put them on things like 4.0:1-7.0:1. Just tips in general.
2) What's the best way to save as an MP3 to get the best quality? (the options at the bottom such as "delay compensation").
Also, has the compression improved it at all?
[edit]
After listening, the compression only seems to kick in when the drums and melody join together, which is annoying because it takes out the emphasis that was meant to be the start of the actual song, making the build up seem louder than the rest.

After turning the volume on tindeck up it doesn't seem too bad. What do you think?
