I'm talking about Red Cross ect ect. We had a speaker talking about the measles in africa and all that. But what about people in america? We have people who are starving, so poor they have trouble making it through a day.

United States: Chronically homeless people (those with repeated episodes or who have been homeless for long periods) 847,000-3,470,000

All we see is commercials about helping people in other countrys. What about the USA's homeless?

With the amount of food the world grows, we could end world hunger. The food distribution, however, is flawed. Scewed, if you will.

We aren't just responsible for poverty in our own country.

I agree entirely. I think the world would be better off if we Americans would stop trying to help everyone. What Africa needs is far less foreign aid so the famished people who keep churning out children will die off and free up more food, water, and land for their fellow citizens. I feel bad about people around the world who grow up in developing countries where they live from job to job, if they make money at all, but we are only making it worse by feeding the system, giving them just enough nourishment to make yet another child, everyone in the family underweight and diseased.

We have plenty of people within America(and Western Europeans do the same and have the same) who need help. The money being sent to developing countries through charity could be used to better our own society. More awareness needs to be given to America's downtrodden, especially in orphanages and foster homes. Too many minority children go through those systems because no one wants a black or hispanic baby, they want the cute, smart little white baby that will lead a pampered life and will make mommy and daddy proud when he goes to college and gets that high-paying desk job.

I like how countrIES is spelled wrong in the title.

There are homeless in america. USA has this concept called Richly poor. In america, you still have the rights to get a job, you just have to get off your lazy ass and get one. There are many more oppritunities many people can get here like free and cheap food and clothing. It's way different in other countries. Especially Africa, of all places, needs help with individual people. We have AIDS here, as I say frequently, but the AIDS in Africa is way worse than ours. It's almost not even joke-worthy.

Homelessness is a problem in America, but we can face the fact that if we had the room for people to spread out more and not be such a hindrance in one spot, more and more people would not care about the homeless. It's an issue here because also their lives are pretty sucky. America and The Red Cross are helping the countries that didn't have the chances to lead a non-sucky life. Some or most homeless people are just people with no work ethic.

Homeless people are homeless because they MADE THEMSELVES THAT WAY. They are drunks and/or druggies. Any money they make gets blown on that.

Did you know that people in Africa do not wash clothes? They just throw the dirty ones away, since they get a supply of new clothes each day. Africa is not in need for help anymore.

I can't express my feelings of unbelievable unbelief for that because it's so fucking stupid, it's concerning me on so many levels.

That may be the biggest and stupidest generalization I have ever heard.

Yeah, the USA needs to mind it's own business. We shouldn't stick our nose in things. It's gonna piss someone off sooner or later.
I say we should help ourselves and not try to act nice. That's all the USA is trying to do. Now, I'm not the smartest person, but I would say they're trying to suck up for future allies? lawl.

It is a generalization, but so many of the times it is true. I'm not going to give a homeless guy money knowing there 46% chance that he is a drunk and a 38% chance he is a drug addict.

Yeah, well about 25% of them are Vietnam and Iraq veterans. Most of them have had such ****ed up experiences in the wars that they have to use alcohol and drugs as an escape.

I don't care. I'm not going to give them 5 dollars knowing that there is about a 50/50 chance they use it to go get wasted. I would gladly give a homeless person a sandwich or a taco, but not money.

agreed... i think the reason there is so many homeless or poor people in america is because of one main factor... Americans are generally lazier than hell... I mean look, there is a small percent of wealthy, and happy people. Our obeise rate is going up, people are too lazy to excercise so they just end up getting fatter and fatter [/slightly off topic]. So poor people (most) are just lazy. There are some who work their assess off and don't get shit (yet), but thats some people. I think ALL the homeless people could find shit to do even with their "disabilities" If you have a weak back or a f*cked up arm that doesn't mean shit. there is a job for pretty much everyone out there...

Wow, I can really see why people hate America now.

You see, the american poor aren't actually poor. The american poor actually do have incomes, somewhere around 100$ for a salary. Lemme make a reference for you. There are people on Africa on countries who have extremely high inflation rates, where their currency is devaluated to even 1$ to 10000 of their coin. Where their salary doesn't actually exist, or is lower than 5 bucks a week.

Yes, ok, maybe american homeless are war veterans and the like. These people too. They live on a constant war. So, not only they are poor, but they are in the middle of firefights and hostily almost on a daily basis. These people don't have a dumpster to lay off and drink their booze. Infact, they don't have booze. There's not even enough water for everyone. Sicknesses that disperse thru the air, which poorly alimented kids can't even fight against. These poor kids, yes, kids, die in months because there is not enough medics there to actually help everyone. There aren't enough vaccines or medication either, they are stolen by armed groups to be sold on the black market.

What the hell are you even thinking? You're sitting on your fat ass on a comfy chair infront of a computer bloating yourself with food the kids on poor African countries will probably never see. How can you even sleep thinking of that? There isn't even enough help, people die like flies because of sickness, and no, it's not AIDS, is Malaria, it's dehydratation, it's contamination, it's war.

Oh sure, go give the Vietnam vet 5 bucks. He totally deserves it more than the diseased young. He'll have more fun with it, gambling on it on the local casino. Sure, go ahead, be a patriot and donate 1000$ to build the people who have wasted their hundreds of oportunities a home! Forget the poor african towns, they were going to die anyway.

Oh, god bless America! It's not like Africa is a nice place to be into, it's not like it has any oil or something.
