View Profile Whenever I kickback and try to watch a nice show showing on television, 5 minutes later there's commercial break. This gets me really annoyed and they're repeating the same thing over and over again. It drives me crazy! But... Some Ads aren't all that bad such as a new game console release or a project to tackle climate change. What do you think about Ads on TV? Should there be less or should they stay how they are? Give your opinion.

View Profile Ads are pretty much the main source of income for television industries. Seriously, you can't just demand for less ads, because that is what's allowing them to function properly. TV companies don't put on ads for people; they put it on for revenue generation.

View Profile Can get up to 10 minutes here.
This isn't a debate. Of course it would be awesome if there were less ads. But there's hardly a way for that to become truth.

View Profile Well there's a television network here, for which we pay for whether we watch it or not. It's only "Slovenia 1", but since we pay for it, there could be less ads.
Depends on the program, really. It can get to 7 minutes too.
And yeah, Schall. I hear ya. German television is a pain to watch because you watch a movie for 3 hours with these stupid ads.

what do they need to advert? they own everything!!!11
anyways, in america its usually
10-13 minutes of a show, 2-3 minute commercial break, then 10-13 minutes of the show finish, commercial break, then repeat.

They actually own suprisingly little. One building and a few sets. BBC =/= government. All the revenue comes in from a license fee that we pay for the privilige of owning a TV. Frankly, it's well worth it for uninterupted programming.
