I'm having more than usual trouble figuring out how I should make the ragdoll-like physics on the defending stick during a fight. I would like to know some of your own personal techniques to achieving this, not that you have to if you don't want to.
I'm thinking that something in the range of the defending stick would be almost pulled back for the next attack to land on him...though it doesn't always look good.
I'm begging you fer halp D:

i just bend the stick in a random way that has somewat to do with the force being thrown/hit at him...idk how to explain it...sorry i suck at talking :/

Just look at all the forces on each part of the stick in each frame. Usually that just means gravity and the momentum (which you can see by flicking back through the previous frames). You could also have wind, friction, and the pulling effect from the other limbs. If you want to move the ragdoll in some way you'll need to pick a point to move him from and the apply an extra force to that bit.

ragdoll affect = drunken fist style
Believe it or not. Drunken Fist's main advantage is that the person using it moves in such random ways the other person cant tell where he/she is going, and when they do things, they dont force it out, it just kind of flows, they go "limp" so to speak.

So basically have the force and gravity of the attacking fist(or object, or whatever it may be) transfers the force that it gives in return that the defending stick takes the force given.
...and EPK...that's definitely off subject ._.

Ragdoll is exactly what you need to do. On impact exagerate the reaction, then have him fly back for acouple frames like a rag doll, accept make sure he keeps his footing and takes steps (thats if you dont want him to fall over) after just ease out of it and you could use it as anticipation for a counter attack.

you idiots, he's asking how to animate ragdoll physics, not a fighting style
