i watch the british version of the office on adult swim in closed captioning because i can't understand a word they say

I watched the first episode of the British version the other day and I was disappointed that the American version used a lot of the same jokes, but I also think that the American version has better production and the British version of Dwight is a shitty actor and isn't very funny.

I watched the the first 2-3 episodes of the office on adult swim too, and there were like 1 or 2 funny parts per episode. but never felt worth watching.

the british office uses a lot of shitty humour. British humour is monty python and black adder, which the british office is far from on par with in my opinion.

British humour is much more subtle, and apparently it is lost on American audiences. The humour in the American version compromises by being less so. I suppose different cultures find different things funny, so comparing them is like comparing an orange and an apple: it's all preference.

I find the mighty boosh to be really funny in small doses. I also think that the Old Gregg episode was a good one except for the scenes with the eponymous character.

And yes, I dislike it when something like this becomes wildly popular for the wrong reasons, if only that when they make more they'll focus it on the particular aspects that made it so.

You can't really compare the British office and the American office. Sure they've got the same title and are about the same thing, but they're 2 different genres.

The English office is more "realistic", more subtle, and therefore many people may find it boring, but the ones that can relate to it find it funny. The US office is more like a sitcom, still realistic but exaggerated, the jokes are more outlandish.

Personally I like both, but prefer the English one.

Also, another thing that annoys me is how English people feel like they have to say "British" instead of English. You don't hear Scottish, Welsh and Irish saying "I'm British" usually, they say they're a scot, Welsh or Irish. So I'm making a point of using English from now on.

That's 'cos the Scots, Welsh, and Irish are the ones being subjugated into being British by us. We are the invaders, and therefore it sounds better to imply that we won and the four countries are perfectly united. They're the ones that are trying to pretend they didn't get completely obliterated and so they define themselves as separate.

Also; everything that has already been said about how the two programmes are different.

I find that this thread is very hurtful. Why does it matter that I started watching the Mighty Boosh after it become popular, explain that to me.

No one directly said it to you, but since you put it on yourself,

You're gay for destroying a good show.
