Need Animated Avatar Help

Hey I want to put an animated avatar and signature up but it doesn't work, heres the problem: I have an an animated gif file 17.5 kb in size. I upload it as my avatar, it uploads successfully but only the first frame of the file so it's a still image. I need helpon fixing this.

What program have you generated the animated gif with? If it is pivot, then as long as the the file size and dimensions are below the limit then it should work. With flash, you must make sure you go into the gif options in the publishing menu and tick the "animated" box.
