It was a lot better then I expected, entertainment wise.
Everything looked amazing, and most of the time I thought it was real people, just dressed up.

storyline wise, nothing amazing. everything is pretty predictable from just watching the trailer, really.
though i didn't know why it was called Avatar before this, but I do now, and it makes sense.

Any foreshadowing is extremely obvious and not vague at all.

generic bad guy, though he's pretty badass and a huge dick.

it's a good 3 hour long movie, i saw it in 3-D, and it looks pretty good. if you're going to see it, you'll probably want to see it in Digitial or in Digitial 3-D rather then on regular film.

I'm damn excited for this. I love James Cameron, and I believe this is his first feature film since Titanic.

I'm not sure what to think about this movie. When I saw the trailer I thought it looked quite shitty, but it's getting praised everywhere, so I don't know. I figure it's probably the same as titanic - a terrible love story wrapped in a good filmatic experience

I watched it in 3-D and it was surprisingly good. As 2-D said it was extremely predictable but that didn't make it any less exciting.

-Spoiler Alert-
It really seemed like a modernized Pocahontas with i bit extension at the end and more down to earth.

I ****ing loved it, and I saw it from the front row of an IMAX theater in 3D, so I lost lots of the visual experience. I'm going to see it again soon.

Oh good, both 2-D and Ash said it's good, which means it's gotta be worth it. (no sarcasm).

Probably going to watch it sometime during christmas break.

I thought the story was very original, but I haven't played ANY space marine games so that's probably why. The action was epic for the most part and the 3Dness is ****ing great. I came in knowing nothing about the movie except that people have been talking shit about it so I had low expectations, but it's a 10/10 for me.

I don't think that it's very accurate to say that the space marines here are unoriginal, because space marines were popularized by James Cameron in the film Aliens, and he directed this, so it's kinda like if someone were to call George A. Romero unoriginal for making Dawn of the Dead because zombies were so popular at the time, but he invented the modern zombie, so he has the right to reuse them.

That's true. I think I meant cliche instead of unoriginal, if that seems any better.

yeah, I don't know that I'd say the story was bad, but I think a lot of it was predictable.
I saw in 3D opening night but didn't have great seats... off to the side and pretty close. I'll probably have another go in imax when I get back home for christmas break
