Hmm, very interesting, is it a mental puzzle, or a physical puzzle. Or is it something that he must do that the dreams scare him away from doing? Or is it like clips where he needs to realize something, maybe he needs to obtain an object hidden in the real world to get to the other world.

I believe this should be done within 2 issues, stories, chapters, whatever you want to call them.

Because I think a majority of the story and interesting parts should happen in the other world.
I also believe that possibly his father should have ties with the other world which are kept secret. And the Itami comes to Gain information, which leads to his fathers death, the curse, and the rest of the story.

Those dreams could scare him at first.. This could come out interesting. Let's add all these bits to the main story and find another artist who could help me with the scenery.
