Old movies were the best, they actually had a reason to make them other than to sell a product. Brilliant classics like alien or terminator just havn't been matched ever since.

And you know it's sad that the average person nowdays doesn't even know they exist because of shitfests like slavation or alien vs predator. And it gets me mad when a person thinks that, because they're arent lots of explosions or shitloads of blood and gore that it's a bad film.

Don't get me wrong, the accational (i can't spell that for the life of me lol)
good movie get's through like the dark knight. But even that hasn't got nothing on aliens.

And, to me, it seems that a lot of modern films are being directored by french people. Now I'm not prejudace against french people and i don't mean to be offensive but.....french people just CAN NOT direct a good movie for the life of them. Now if anyone has seen a good french movie please do prove me wrong but it seems that most bad films i see are usually french (or hollywood).

And it's not allways the director, it's up to the scriptwriters, i mean look at starship troopers for example, the acting was all it could be, the special effects were amazing (if not overused) and the set designers did a good job. But infortunatly the terrible script let it down.

Now before i appear like i'm grouching, I'm being very negative because there are too many bad movies being shit out of hollywood and it seems to me that people just don't know how to make movies any more.

not every movie can be a block buster hit, dude.

i don't watch many french movies, so I have no opinion on that, but I suggest you.. not watch them if you dislike the directors so much.

I disagree, most bad movies are the spawn of bollywood. French bollywood directors especially.

Look man. You are complaining about a rapidly declining problem. I know more people who are willing to watch a movie in black and white now than I did 5 years ago. Most of my friends noticed that Avatar's plot was incredibly similar to Dances With Wolves. And I don't know a single person who thought Aliens vs Predator was better than Aliens. The fact is, people are getting MORE open-minded about film, not less. Look at how successful District 9 was even though it strayed so far from the conventions of the Summer Blockbuster, look at how much the sales for the older Star Trek films increased after JJ Abram's Star Trek was released.

It's like african-american rights or women's lib: these are still issues, but there's really not much of a point in perpetuating the efforts to get rid of them because they are going away on their own, and trying to put too much effort into righting these wrongs is likely to do more harm than good.

I wish your friends were like mine then because at least 90% of the people i know (not including here obviously) don't even know what aliens is. Exept the older people who went to the pictures to see it or were given it to them by thier perents. Fortunatly for me i was lucky enough to have bought the alien quadriligy (damn another word i can't spell).

I can't find a trailer for the prequel to this. But it's called Carne. If you ever intend to watch them you would have to watch the other first.

Don't read the description if you plan on watching it. It makes the whole experience better.

This is exactly how I feel about music. Sure a lot of movies are shit, but just don't watch them. There are plenty of great modern movies.
