This. It's not rocket science to be able to tell that someone is feeling uncomfortable when they are using their arm as a barrier in front of their body.

it's the same as how crossing one's arms is a defensive mechanism

I do that, I usually do it to keep my posture though, it's more of a habit when I'm not really holding anything.
