if part of your depression is girl problems... well I don't really know what to do about it.

Haven't had a girlfriend in over 3 years and doubt I ever will sometimes. So no, it's not girl problems.

try taking up aikido, and taking it seriously

it's heaps of fun and it will blow your mind (i'm not kidding, the techniques i learned there are mind boggling in their effectiveness and simplicity). half the art is learning to have a positive outlook on life, and it's very difficult not to with the people that will be learning with you. i took up aikido, and it has given me a viewpoint that means i never have a reason to be unhappy again.

I have the same problem, and I'm 13 so I'm also assuming it's puberty. I find myself blowing things out of proportion A LOT. ie, yell at my parents for no reason, and basically just ****ing raging at every little thing that happens, as in dropping something on my foot, hitting my head on something, ect. So the past month I've been forcing myself to look at things more positively and I've been feeling a lot better.

I have the same kind of problems. I'm not overweight, but actually short, which can be kind of bad for guys, and I'm a tad underweight too. Yea, I never get many dates and stuff like that... I have some of those friends too... they're not real friends, they're just buds.

Well... to me a girl problem is not having a girlfriend really... Glad you're not bothering that much though. =]
By the way, if you need to talk to someone, PM me/ask me for my Yahoo/MSN.

But I feel that I do have things to be depressed about.

Oh, come on.

You're the person that said you could comfortably live off of mcdonalds if you needed to, if you're overweight then start eating healthy. Exercise, instead of spending 4 hours a day on the computer. That's nothing to be depressed about.

Your dad sounds like a hardass but things could be a LOT worse, my girlfriend's mom is constantly belittling her, threatens to fire her for no reason (she's a manager where she works), and has never once been proud of her getting straight A's and getting a full scholarship. She pays for literally everything, her parents haven't given her any financial help at all. And her parents used to beat her to the point where she'd be knocked unconscious. It doesn't make your situation any better but she's still one of the most positive people I know, there's not much reason that you have to be depressed because of it.

Not to be a dick but it really just sounds like you need to get over yourself.

I want to learn more.

Also, I went through the same shit and I know how you feel. And to be honest, it just passed. It suck a while and it did get nasty but it eventually just went away and as said before, I wondered what the hell I was thinking. Phases like this just make you stronger in the end.

Solid edit with the poll music.

Don't worry too much about it man, everyone goes through a similar phase. Especially on the friends situation. It seems like tons of people have the same feeling that they like to hang out with their friends at school and stuff but barely ever do anything with them on the weekends and they never really have deep conversations or anything like that. I've heard plenty say that you make your lifelong friends in college and they barely even talk to their old high school friends.

And yeah, like Exilement said: stay active. Keep yourself busy with lots of activities and hobbies. If you feel self-conscious about your weight, start exercising. You don't necessarily have to go buy a gym membership. Just go for long jogs and then do pushups and situps at home when you have free time or before you go to bed.

Also I have plenty of really chill but up-beat songs to share if you want any. This one has been putting me in a really good mood lately:

It's probably not the best example, but I've been listening to it a lot for the past couple weeks.

Why not join a gym? Or just buy some weights? It'll get your mind off of your problems and you'll be doing something good for your body while your at it.

Also yeah, music will completely change your outlook. Just listening to something that makes your feel good or inspired can be enough to change your entire outlook on life.

Itll pass man. So don't sweat it.
