What he's trying to say is 12 is sort of a start of puberty. Yes, he's right, when 12 life starts to get harder, not to mention in some countries, you start high-school when 12 (not my case though).
Buuut, everyone goes through that anyway so it doesn't matter. Continue telling your ages and whatnot. Sorry for off-topic :)
