Hmm... they could if they had a cold container when returning to their spaceship... the Sun is much hotter out in the open space. Because the Moon has no atmosphere, ultraviolet light rays from the Sun heat the surface temperature to about 110'C. Now that would melt any Ice. But taking Ice samples would be a great idea if we could find the right way... without it melting because of our spacesuit heat...

Also, the surface temperature at the poles of Mars would be much much more colder than of the surface temperature of Antarctica, meaning heat in the spacesuit will be needed. This would flow into the hands of the spacesuit, where your holding the ice...

yes but like those thermal bags that keep cold food cool and hot food hot, you cant feel anything on the outside. I'm sure they could easily heat the inside of the suit, and the outside would remain room, or in this case, planet temperature.

I don't know why the heck i voted Jupiter, i vote for mars now, someone vote for me.

With technology these days, an astronaut could easily do that. But sometimes on Mars there are dust storms, or in this case at the poles blizzards, This whips up some loose ice and blows it around at about 200mph, which would be too dangerous and the outside of the spacesuit would be literlary, frozen.

But while there isn't storms, that idea would be pretty good. Though you'd need a container that is cold on the inside, like one with a air conditioner in or something. A fridge would be perfect also if it's small enough.

Hard choice, but you just can't beat a lightning storm lasting thousands of years that's 3 times as big as the Earth. Jupiter FTW.
