What makes people evil? Can't it be argued that any person that is evil, technically has a mental illness? Wouldn't that make it not the evil persons fault that he/she is evil? So technicly the good people have no room to criticize the evil people because these 'good' people are only such because they have not developed this mental illness we know as 'evil'?
So debate; what makes people evil? or rather, what is evil itself? (whether it be mental illness, or some other reason). and please leave religion out, unless we're speaking about the affect the religion has on a persons mental state.

ehhh, that's not what I meant. I meant mentally, like what makes people evil, not specific influences. like say i murdered a man. why am i evil for doing so? because its morally wrong to do that, but what made me do it? the fact that i had a mental illness? i guess i cant figure out how to word this correctly.
i guess my question is; is every person who is evil mentally ill? can a healthy, moral, person commit evil?(on purpose of course)

ok, let's substitute 'not a good person', for everywhere evil is used.

Correct answer: There's no such thing as good, bad, evil, moral or immoral people.

I agree. There are only people who are more or less willing to take advantage of other people, which some see as morally wrong.
All life is inherently selfish, which could be labeled evil. It's just that, sometime during our evolution, humans decided that it was more efficient to work as a group and that individuals who were dedicated to that group and not backstabbers, so to speak, did better. From that, we learned to value non-selfish qualities.

Well Evil Is Only Stated As One Of The Foremost Element In Our World. We Can Only Say Something Is Evil If Its Presented With A Good Side Regardless Of ITs Mental Ability To Understand. If Something Evil Whether If A Person is Evil OR A "Thing" IS Evil There Has TO BE A Counter Element Which We Claim Good Otherwise You Cant Call It EVIL. In Other Words You Cant Call Something Evil If There Is No GOOD Otherwise How Can You Claimed IT Evil If You Cant Tell Wat Is The Right OR Good Thing TO Do. For Example, How Do We Know killing IS Evil Because A Right Thing TO Do IS PRESENTED TO US. HOW Is It Presented, Most Religion In Our World And Most Law IN Different Nation Stated That Killing Anther Human Is A Sin To God Or Is Not Suited Because We Dont HAve The Proper Title To Claim Someone's Life

Evil Came from sin and temptation. In other words People are innocent in being evil. There only guilty of evil(ness!) if they give in to temptation and put it in action.

Well I'm sure there are many serial killers that can't be diagnosed with a particular illness, but there would definitaly be something "wrong" there. There is quite blatantly something different in their morals and perspectives than most of society. So it depends what you mean by "sane" or "mentally healthy". If by mentally healthy you mean to the mental health society tries to conform to, then no, there isn't a mentally healthy serial killer.

Sane, yes, if by killing people he was trying to use them to improve his life- for example, a kidnapper demanding ransom. If he was mentally calculating the risk of being caught versus the possible gain of his actions.
Mentally healthy, no, if by that you mean thinking like a "normal" member of society.

I don't get it. It's not even a caps fail.
Anyway, you have to hold evil people to account for their actions because whether or not you will get blamed is one of the causal things that goes into calculating what you will do. Basically, people would be more evil if you did not call them evil.
