i see the old one it is old outdated barely noticed and only has like 3 things ima include link if i know it and pros/cons

-------
byond
-------

link www.byond.com

summary: its Build Your Own Net Dream it isnt all that bad as long as you have a good indie game definition grasp

pros- free, has forum, mildly popular

cons- coding required, not well known, copying your game is 100% garanteed, bad graphics, many many many copys of games,no originality, you need to download it to play or make the games

misc 90% of games are megaman, zombie, misc rpgs,digimon/pokemon or anime the rest are boring and/or bad

-------------
gamemaker
-------------

www.yoyogames.com

summary: the indiest and most known of the indie game makers
pros- free(non free version though),no coding required, forums, many very good tutorials

cons- must have to play or make games, bad graphics

---------------------
microsoft silverlight
---------------------

www.silverlight.com
www.microsoft.com/silverlight

summary: a microsoft attempt to make a flash clone doesnt only make games

pros- cool games have been made, doesnt only make games, free

con- only microsoft made languages supported(the C family),complicated, lots to download other than it to make it good, made by microsoft(remember the 360? remember vista? yeah thats why this is a con on the plus they made windows(xp and 7))

-----------------
sun java(i think)
------------------

dunno link google it

dunno much about it it doesnt only make games

cons- made runescape i think

--------
unity3d
--------

www.unity3d.com

the forums im devilkingx I mostly post in scripting and gossip

summary: imagine flash or silverlight but free with a very expensive pro version and specifically for games multi language support(C#,unitys own version of javascrip which we call unityscript, and boo which is similar to python i think a few other languages though)

pros- multi languages(C#,unityscript,BOO),multiplatform(wii,pc and iphone apps),free(mostly) good with all types of games but not that well with mmos(can be done but harder),good for indie and commertial development, used for cartoon networks fusionfall

cons- some parts of the forums are ghost towns but as a whole not too active, nobody uses boo like 60% use unityscript 35% use C# and the rest use boo,unknown/unpopular

-----
flash
-----

link dunno google it
summary: the most expensive and widely used thing on the internet(other than computers) makes everything on the internet though i personally hate flash

pros- most widely used and accepted thing on the internet, animates makes apps and games and websites and pretty much everything, 1 month free demo, accepted by every gamesite, comes in bundle with photoshop everything else in bundle(other than flash and photoshop) is pure crap

cons-500-800 bucks or so,ITS REALLY EXPENSIVE, overshadows everything else in the same field, see 1st and second reasons

-----------
rpg maker
------------

dunno guess what you really have to ask?
summary: bought in stores like a game on a disc with a case only makes 1 kinda game(guess) many versions

pros- rpgs of ANY kind = best type and longest type of game

cons- not free, not well kown, hardish to find

------------------
shiva and torque
-------------------

summary: heard about on unity forums i heard torque sucks dont know much just google them for gods sake

any questions comments additions? thats all i have tried to keep it professional as possible post with anything pertaining to this i guess well this is

nice list, but i think it could do with a bit of cleaning up and clarifying... in particular there's a lot of "dunno google it"

normally the point of making a list like this is that people don't have to google it after reading.

Update to the RPG maker?
What it is:
Makes RPGs of any kind. Default is FF style. Scripts written in RGSS2 (Ruby) are used to change/add game features (custom battle system, custom menu system, etc.). Database editing for things like items, weapons, events.

Pros: Very easy to find scripts written by others on the internet.
Easy to get started.
Can make a decent game.
Easy to find specialised forums
Good GUI.

Cons: "have" to buy.
effort put in is not directly equivalent to resulting game quality (tonnes of work > kinda half assed game)
takes a while to do custom graphics.

How about the customizable M.U.G.E.N. game engine? It's a lot better and easier than any of these. Though, you might need a M.U.G.E.N. coder and sprite maker to fully customize the game to your will unless if you want to learn it yourself.
