i've been thinking about how developed the internet has become, and how you can use it for anything. And i've also been thinking of hackers. Is it possible that people could actually get onto the government servers and actually control/destroy a country? There is actually a case in which someone hacked a military server and started giving militarial commands before he was discovered and arrested. Is it possible? Why or why not?

Ehhh... I seriously doubt it's possible. Hacking isn't like in films... I doubt all the important stuff is even connected to the public internet as we know it, probably just an inter-connected government network. I'm sure it would be dealt with pretty quickly if someone did gain access to anything... So far all anyone has managed to do is deface websites, gain access to documents etc. No control over the military etc.

so i guess it was a load of crap, but isn;t there some way someone could gain access to, say, a general's professional accounts? i do believe it's possible

My guess is that the military has their own seperate network not connected to the Internet in any way.

Yeah things that contain vital, top-secret information or military access codes/launch sequences/whatever won't be hosted on any networks that outside sources can just "hack" into.

They don't need to be a badass hacker to "fireball" anything, they just gotta be a 3rd level caster.

Goverment stuff is on a secure network completely outside of the internet hosted on internal servers.
No. You cant access them.
