Alright, I'm currently in danger of losing one of my best friends because a discussion lead to me telling him about my small stash. He constantly states that "it's bad for you" and it's "extremely harmful to the body" during our conversations. I try to enlighten him but he seems to block it out. He grew up in a very Christian family and is a practiced Christian. I think he's been brainwashed by that stupid anti-drug propaganda. The only site he has referenced me to, http://www.marijuana-addiction.net/marijuana-dangers.htm only states and over-exaggerates 'bad' effects and some that aren't even true. None of this information is cited from what I've read and he seems to be stuck in a lockdown state against everything I've tried to tell him. Here's a snippet from one of out conversations.
Blarg400000: So, uh...
Blarg400000: I think my sister's getting smarter.
IceWire: I didn't know you had one.
IceWire: What age?
Blarg400000: Two.
Blarg400000: One is 15 the other is 22
IceWire: They do that.
IceWire: Oh.
IceWire: I thought you meant she was two.
Blarg400000: The younger of my two older sisters seems to be catching on to my habits
Blarg400000: She keeps noting how my eyes look red and how I normally don't make much sense.
IceWire: lol
IceWire: Are you on drugs?
Blarg400000: Not anything serious.
Blarg400000: I got a bit of weed from a friend as a favor for helping him through the entire svhool year.
Blarg400000: *school
IceWire: You shouldn't do that, bro.
IceWire: It's bad.
Blarg400000: Ehn.
IceWire: And illegal.'
Blarg400000: Well I'm in the middle of rat-hole nowhere.
Blarg400000: The most cops we see are about one car a week.
IceWire: Even So.
Blarg400000: Plus, I haven't had any ill effects from it.
Blarg400000: . . .
[ten minute silence]
Blarg400000: I sense a disturbance in the force.
IceWire: You shouldn't.
IceWire: It's not right.
Blarg400000: I knew I shouldn't have said anything.
Blarg400000: What makes it not right?
IceWire: It's extremely bad for your body and ruins your mind.
Blarg400000: In what ways is it 'extremley bad'
IceWire: nvm.
[a minute passes]
IceWire: I have tried before, and you didn't believe me.
Blarg400000: Am I missing something?
Blarg400000: Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't remember you saying anything of the sorts.
IceWire: Yeah, we were discussing this one night and I posted some info from Marijuanaaddiction.net
IceWire: Or some website like that.
Blarg400000: Oh yeah, that site.
Blarg400000: It had a hyphen.
IceWire: Yeah,.
Blarg400000: Brb, I'm gonna read over that site.
IceWire: kay.
nygiants2010: Are u guys like datin??
IceWire: No.
techturkey: hey whas up
Blarg400000: I remember this site.
IceWire: Hi.
FireandIce: Who are you even talking about ny?
[10 minutes later]
Blarg400000: "Many studies of marijuana dangers associate repeated use of the drug with lower test scores and academic abilities."
IceWire: yalp.
Blarg400000: Yet there are no citations to any of this info, Ice.
IceWire: Congratulations! You just earned the Navigator's Sextant card!
IceWire: Yay!
IceWire: Oh.
IceWire: Look up the studies
He left afterward. The only citation there was for Spencer Recovery Center, which produced that site I mentioned above. I can't seem to get through to him and I don't want to lose a good friend.
I need some help with this. I've never succeeded at negotiating with a Christian.
