I've seen this debate many times now, but I haven't seen a real conclusion other than people just bashing one game or the other. I've recently just got an xbox360 ( I'm like 6 years behind, I realize this. ) I'd first got MW3, played it quite a bit. I enjoy it. It can be repetitive if you focus simply on just winning every round with your favorite gun over and over through the prestige levels. However, I find if you try and build up other guns and tactics as you play the game it makes the overall experience much more enjoyable. Also, utilizing all the daily experience opportunities introduce you into different game modes. I actually dig the variations of game modes you can play in and how it changes up the game play experience.
Now, couple weeks after playing MW3 I got BF3. Initially it was a disappointing that I had to download graphics upgrades ASIDE from the xbox updates required with the game. From there, after waiting an hour or so, it then requires you to purchase a one-time $10 online fee to play. Once again, whatever, but I wasn't very happy about that. On top of which you couldn't just BUY it you had to use microsoft points. Having none, i had to go through that whole process just to get enough to buy in.
After that, I was able to finally start playing. I didn't play much of it, it had some pretty neat graphics. You were more mobile than in MW3 and the maps were MASSIVE in comparison. I liked that they had different classes with different capabilities, but I didn't fully get into the upgrades system. I also felt a bit detached from those I was playing with. Gameplay was quiet. Action was on-and-off. I also dearly missed a hit marker indicator.
I don't have a true, real-good overview of BF3. My experience with it is very limited so far compared to MW3. I personally enjoy MW3 right now but I feel that feeling is very biased as most of my friends currently are playing MW3 which leads me to play BF3 almost not at all atm. What do you guys think?

I love me some MW3. I'm in the same boat, it's what all my friends play, I'm the only one who even has BF3. Except I have it for the PC, it runs flawlessly on the highest settings and it's just ridiculous how good the graphics are. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten flanked just because I was distracted looking at the environment.
Comparing them is difficult, they really have nothing in common beyond the fact that they're both FPS's. There's such a massive difference in the core mechanics and the overall gameplay, it all boils down to whether or not you like to take your time with tactical, team-centered gameplay, or if you like fast paced running and gunning.
They're both fun to me, though. I feel like BF3 is more of an.. experience, I guess? It actually plays like you're a soldier on an actual battlefield. But MW3 feels more like a video game, it's just a mindless rampage that you can jump in and out of, I think it's a lot more fun comparatively. But I also think anyone who says MW3 is superior to BF3 is talking out of their ass, it's a lot more buggy and unbalanced despite being a much simpler game. It's fun despite that, but still.

Yeah I think I grabbed about the very same from it as you. I loved how there was dust / random foliage and such that floats around the highly detailed backgrounds. I did feel that to really 'get into it' you shouldn't have just played MW3. Because you'll be expecting to spawn, run around, get 3 kills, die, rinse and repeat. Where it is more like, choose a class - > find your team -> organize and prepare - > over watch incoming eney - > attack - > die - > repeat.

That said there's a ton of meta-game elements to MW3 that can consistently put you above everyone else, if you think about what you're doing hard enough. So many people just pick an assault rifle and run around aimlessly until they die, there's so much more you can do with the game.

I like BF3 better, it's much more action packed than MW3. I mean to be honest, MW3 is just a plain gun fight that's gotten a little too dry in the COD series. BF3 has much bigger maps and vehicles. Besides that, BF3 is pretty MW3 looks like MW2.5.
