Pretty much everything I'm doing here is a placeholder, but it's also good because it's a chance for me to refine what I've been working on with what I'm learning by doing these. For now we're doing it the old way - where people message me and Jay and I evaluate the request - but I fully intend to have an automated system to help everyone keep better track of these things. I have been listening to feedback from a lot of people and the biggest problem with sponsorships seems to be how long the process is, so handling it all myself in the office (including payout) is my first attempt to speed things up. The new site is still heavily in development due to my previously mentioned delays, and with stone out of a community manager position I've been feeling like I need to step things up around here now so we don't completely lose favor with creatives. Though I am still confident that the new site will be a heavy draw for all types.

Yeah absolutely, I have hours of music that could be used plus I can easily churn out a few songs each week specifically for animation BGM, especially if I have money as a motivating factor. I'm desperate to get my home studio set up and a lack of funds is the only thing holding me back at this point so take full advantage of my desperation however you can lol

Other than your soundcloud - could you send me some examples of your work with as much variety as you can? Copyright is a big concern right now for us as we're looking at pushing more social media stuff like YouTube so I think I might be able to expedite this process if I can make a strong case to Jay.

Hey I just added a new feature to the forums: thread-specific banning. Click a user's name in a thread and there will be an option to ban/unban them from the thread you're in. This is specifically to help with the new tags, but is probably just a generally useful feature.

should there be guidelines on when banning someone from a thread is necessary? When people borderline spam in the Chat Thread like TheGrid or CreepinBro sometimes do, that seems like a decent time to do it for a while maybe. But I'm not sure when else it would be required

Right now I think I'd trust you guys to use common sense and not abuse the feature. It should be rare that you need to ban someone specifically from a thread, but I think when it called for it's an obvious solution like when someone repeatedly posts in a way they were asked not to. I would be careful not to tread into censorship waters by deeming members you find personally annoying as spammers, for instance (not accusing anyone here, just hypothetically) the chat thread is meant to be a little bit off topic and just because you don't want someone posting during a conversation doesn't mean you can take moderator action against them for it. You can ask person to person but forcibly censoring someone because you don't like what they post probably isn't the right thing to do. Usually the community will shape those people. I imagine it will be one of those things that has guidelines only when they come up.

Awww. So we cant ban kanga-b from the chat thread. That makes me slightly sad but alright.

Seems like a neat feature that i might find myself using on my section.

You guys rock.

But seriously, though, I think this can be pretty useful. For example, if a user continues spamming a thread, rather than continuous infractions (leading to an auto ban that may or may not affect them), we can sorta give them a "second chance" by simply banning them from the thread for a set amount of time (I'm thinking... maybe 3 days as an initial ban?). Seeing as it's a thread ban rather than a site ban, we can start off with a higher time limit since it affects them less severely.

I think rather than giving it a specific time of not being able to post, it's better to ban them from the thread permanently until they realize they shouldnt do the stuff they did to get them thread-banned

Yeah that's what I was thinking! Like there are some members that for some reason cannot stop themselves from shitposting but are otherwise good members. I'd rather not dump infractions on them but they gotta stop that shit. Banning them from the thread (and maybe an entire section if I can get something like that going) would be easier and kinder.

Be a bit hard to judge if it's permanent, but then again, we could probably hold different areas to different standards.

Maybe so. If permanent its more towards us determinig when to unban while time-based is well... time based. We should consider when someone crosses the line of a time-based ban and a perma ban.
