and i believe he was referring to the theory of the contract and expand, big bangs over and over again. the universe collapses on itself via gravity over shittons of years, then bangs out, as the initial inertia from the bang is overcome by gravity, the universe slowly collapses again (very slowly, since gravity effect is ridiculously small over ridiculously long ranges) and then bangs out again. Alot of people don't understand that entropy is happening slowly in this theoretical cycle, and everything will one day run out of energy, banging smaller and smaller, until it just dies out. and there are other types of entropy in the universe predicted to happen before the next contraction.
