Since Humans give definition to purpose, and the Salt Shaker's are quite independent of this purpose (They are walking talking sentient beings), then if we were made for a purpose, by your logic we have exceeded that purpose once we became sentient. Its hard to deny that if your salt shaker started talking and walking, that it has far exceeded its original expectations to but salt on things.

Maybe Aliens made us, maybe evolution made us, maybe an omnipotent being made us, the point is we can't really know for sure, just like the Salt Shaker's try and test the limits to find out if they were really made by someone, we have too tested those limits and came up short. From the perspective of the Salt Shaker in the first video, there is no maker, just himself that he knows, and this is the perspective that some humans (Known as atheists) now take in this very real world, even though (LIKE THE SALT SHAKER) we are a very well constructed, and intelligent devices.

Of course the Christian God wouldn't help you, this is an excuse that all Christian's give (God wants you to make your own decisions, yada yada yada), even though in the Bible many times God mysteriously and magically steps in to intervene just when the going gets tough. So I guess he only steps in sometimes? This god guy isn't very logical.

The video's metaphor makes an argument against a Christian/Muslim god in the sense that, if the Salt Shaker (us) had a purpose, and that purpose was put into question by one of our actions (Killing our self), then wouldn't this being save us for our purpose instead of letting us die. Would you let your dog get ran over for experience? Would you let your child die?

This video is obviously about American society's consumerism and the negative effect it has on people's individual lives and society as a whole.

The video does a good job of illustrating the flaw in arguing that there must be an omnipotent and omnibenevolent being based on the sole fact of our existence.

Honestly there is really no debate here, either you believe in a god, and follow that specific gods religion and believe in his bi laws or whatever, or you dont and believe in science or what have you, or you dont believe in anything.

Yeah, it's obvious this isn't about god.

It's setting up the premise for some existential shit.

This whole video is mainly to convey that without a god there is no reason for anything. Salt shaker is just having an existential crisis, so he's questioning whether or not anything matters. He's on the way to becoming a nihilist.

EDIT: Hopping off the counter probably isn't a metaphor for suicide. Salt shaker won't die from it. He'll just get hurt (dent + salt spilled everywhere). It's the atheist argument of "If god loved us he wouldn't allow unnecessary suffering, especially suffering contrary to our purpose in life."
