This is pretty damn good... just work on more anatomy...

For example I would lengthen the left arm for a more realistic feel...
And not to be rude but why doesn't the lest wrist attach to the rest of the arm?

Sketch quik, sketches dont always connect, I also had to resize some parts to make em fit together, so some of those parts arent connected. but yeah thanks!

why is the wind blowing in 2 different directions? He's standing in an idle pose. Doesn't look like he just got done doing something, so I can't call either of those pieces of cloth secondary motion. I'm left to just assume you put it on there because it looks cool, but that sacrifices it's believably.

The word "sketch" isn't an answer to quik's question. If you're going to use the free transform tool to cover your proportional mistakes, then you need to reconnect lines or else it looks lazy and clear that you made mistakes to cover up.

Why are people so interested in anime? Why can't people just fucking do their own thing?

meh, i dont get into many little details when drawing, i just...do it.
Anime is a great category, and a more realistic and epic one at that, rather than normal american cartoons(which right now, suck balls)
later in my life when I get into the animating career, i hope to do anime, starting from basic clips, to a mini-series, to full length series.
judging from your post id say your not a huge fan. I for one admire the style. but we all have opinions, and its being rude to judge others tastes and opinions.

nice drawing man! feels like the feet is a little too big.

o and there is a huge variety of "normal american comics" and many of them are what you'd say "more realistic." i'm assuming the non-realistic ones you're talking about are the ones from the news or something

So you draw without thinking about whether this image makes sense?

Also there are a lot of fantastic american cartoons out these days. It's really silly to just call modern american cartoons bad. What about Bill plympton, JG Quintel, Titmouse (superjail, venture bros), Brad Neely, KC Green, Meredith Gran, Joe Murray (yeah hes still doing stuff), John K (ren and stimpy guy thats still doing stuff), Matt Groening, or half the people on newgrounds? They're all a part of the modern american cartoon industry and you think they suck balls? That's a lot to dislike.

You called it "normal" which is also interesting, because american cartoons used fucked up retarded amounts of exaggeration, and anime is more geared towards realistic proportion and dramatic longer plots. Anime's the normal one, and honestly, with all due respect, it's typical for someone of your demographic to be into it.

I admire animation. Anime's an awesome genre, but I don't see the point of doing just anime or focusing your style to be just like the cookie cutter formula. You can make your own exaggerations based off of what YOU think is appealing. What I'm basically saying is your character looks somewhat formulaic, and though anime is great, try to make it your INFLUENCE and do your own thing. Personally invested thought in art turns heads.

typical anime males look silly/lame to me, especially the kind with spiky hair, but the females are miraculous on the other hand

EDIT: Also, flash really isn't good for drawing. I'd recommend using a different program, unless you like that extremely annoying brush.

Obviously you arent into listening. Regardless, I will try as well. You need to start working on anatomy before you can dream of anime. You may want to complain that anime is completely different from realistic humans, but I beg to differ. Anime is derived from realistic human proportions and while it does exaggerate at times, it certainly doesnt stray too terribly far. This can vary though, as many anime characters and styles change many proportions of the body, but the artists who do this have deep roots in figure drawing.

Take Hayao Miyazaki for example. He spent a good many years developing his artistic skills to finally come up with his amazing style seen in films such as Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away. Before you try to say anything, just because he hasnt drawn nearly as much as in the past, doesnt mean it isnt his style.

If you want to take your artistic abilities and turn them into masterpieces and really, truly become an anime animator then do yourself a favor and start working on your anatomy.

what's up with people not knowing how to deal with some help man
look kitsune and brian aren't trying to make you feel bad

here's a nice guide you can look at to learn some proportions i guess: http://sidewaysbawks.deviantart.com/#/d42elq4

there's a whole series that you should probably read up on if you don't want to deal with people helping you out.
you don't always have to draw "perfect" anatomy, but at least keep basic structure in mind so that certain things don't look ridiculous (like the feet for example). everyone goes through an art phase like this and you'll eventually grow out of it

edit: CMKINUSN IS A FUCKING NINJA

yeah, well
I was never typically good at drawing on the computer, my skills belong with the pencil and paper, there I have no problem drawing, Ive actually gotten anatomy down there. but on flash its just....something different you know, i had to keep zooming in to fill small parts and details and its just...not natural for me, thats one of the reasons why the shoes look bigger than they should. Im no professional, I only know the basics, even then there are some basics I havent mastered. I dont know alot tricks or tips, or certains ways to get around my mistakes.
I appreciate all you guys are trying to help me with, but please be aware that this was only for show, a small taste of what i could draw on flash. I didnt think about much while doing this, I just did it; when drawing a practice sketch, I tend to start out without a care for common mistakes, like incorrect anatomy, if this was a drawing I'd have taken more seriously, Anatomy wouldnt be a problem. but I didnt, so here's the problem. Also, this was my second anime drawing on flash in case some have forgotten, the first being my avatar, which I took more seriously, and why it's better than this one. Now, yes anatomy is a problem I must fix, I got that. you can stop talking about it now. Ive seen at least 3 posts here regarding the subject, stating all too similar advice. If there's something else I could work on, please mention accordingly, otherwise I got it down.
