For all you PCfags, mod discussion.

I recently dipped into two new mods, both sick as fuck.

NMRiH (HL2 Mod)
Cry of Fear (HL1 Mod)

NMRiH (No More Room in Hell) is a HL2 mod, been in development forever. It's based around zombies, and semi-realism gameplay. I love to play this game.

Cry of Fear, been waiting for this game for four years. It's a mod for HL1, but they pimped the living dicks out of the Goldsrc Engine, and made this shit look amazing, and the gameplay is just as amazing, if not better. It's a horror-game, so if you're a pussy, don't play it.

I highly recommend both of these mods.

The Stanley Parable (HL2 Mod)

Recently dipped into this game, takes a whole new approach at gaming. Think of Dear Esther, only with humor, different endings, and a whole new environment. In fact, the only things that these two games share is that they're narratives. I would definitely give this one 30 minutes of your time if I were you. Small DL, but good laughs, and a nice amount of fun.

Elevator: Source (GMOD Mod)

Alright bros, if you play GMOD, have SDK Base Build 2007, HL2: EP2, CS:S, HL2:DM, TF2, and HL2, you really need to check this game out. It doesn't require all of those games to play though, you just need those if you want to see the models correctly. Anyways, it's very simple, in fact, the name says it all. It's a mod based around an elevator ride. However, it isn't your typical elevator, and if I may add; shouldn't be played alone. While the game itself isn't too creepy, minus a few floors, or your personal taste, the co-op based gameplay is what makes the game hilarious. On top of that, they intend on adding more and more floors to this mod, so the ride will last for hours when it hits the pinnacle of gameplay. All in all, five mods listed, all should be checked out. I mean, they're FREE after all.

Happy playing.
Also, feel free to add to the discussion.

I'd like to bump this.

Battle Field 2: Project Reality

Obviously a mod for Battle Field 2, this game is intense. It's based entirely around realism, updated frequently, and fun as fuck as it revolves around teamwork, and not random explosions and stray fire as I see with many FPS games today. Would definitely suggest this to any gamer who loves realism, teamwork, and a genuine good time if you're more into social gaming.

Darkest Hour: Europe '44 - '45

This is a mod based around the game Red Orchestra. While Red Orchestra takes a look at the skirmishes between the Russians and Germans, DH takes a more traditional look at the Americans and Germans. The game is also pretty realistic. Huge maps, a lot of players per server, a lot of strategy, etc. If you're into war and strategy, then I suggest these two mods to you.

If you're an Oblivion player, some really awesome mods are:

- All Natural: A total immersion mod that adds more weather, weather sounds on the inside of buildings (so it sounds like it's raining outside instead of going silent when you go inside), and a lot more that are awesome
- Animated Window Lighting System: Makes buildings have lit windows at appropriate times on buildings, makes wondering at night a bit more realistic and gives the buildings a sense of habitation. I think this mod adds chimney smoke at various times too if I recall correctly
- Detailed Terrain: A mod that greatly improves terrain texturing throughout Oblivion.
- Kvatch Rebuilt: After progressing past a certain point in the game, the ruined city of Kvatch will be slowly rebuilt, and you get more quests and shit from it. Great mod.
- Immersive Interiors: makes interior windows transparent so while you're inside you can see the city outside
- Enhanced Water: Makes water look better
- Get Wet: NPCs and the player character will "get wet" in the rain and when coming out of water
- Natural Habitat: Adds aerial wildlife species like insects and birds
- Enhanced Vegetation: Makes foliage look less 2005.

All these mods add a lot to Oblivion and bring it up to spec for this day and age. It's still an aging game, but it feels less cartoonish compared to Skyrim with these, plus a lot of these I wish would get ported to Skyrim.

I still play GTA IV I lot so, here are some mods GTA players may like:

Gravity Gun: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=435833 (very fun to use and mess around with)

Awwu's trainer: http://www.gta4-mods.com/script/ingame-trainer-v190-f2128 (quite useful when you're bored of playing without mods. Gets the job done very well)

Thread Update:

Just about every mod I posted has been updated since posted, so still, go check those out. Especially NMRiH, that game is getting really fun.

Other finds:

L.U.R.K (S.T.A.L.K.E.R Mod)

A complete overhaul of the graphics, sound, bestiary, weapons, etc in the game. They've even added new custom content also, which I must say, is pretty damn sweet. The difficulty of the game is also significantly increased, which adds to the overall deadly atmosphere of the zone. Give this mod a go. (strongly suggested after completing the game vanilla.)

Inquietude (HL2: EP2 Mod)

The game has yet to be released, and the devs are taking a temporary hiatus from it's development. However, with little known of the mod itself, the content displayed provides for a very dark atmosphere, and to be classified as a horror. Follow the mod, and keep up to date with what's going on within it. I personally can't wait for it's release, tbh.

Umbrella Corporation (HL2 Mod)

Here is another game that has yet to be released, though, Resident Evil fans may appreciate this mod a lot more than your typical crowd. The plot is based on a group of S.W.A.T board a train to the underground laboratory known as "The Hive", they work their way into the depths of the lab, they disable the Red Queen, and now must plot their escape. The mod is based strongly upon team-work, seeing as how that may be one of the only ways to leave the lab alive.

The Intruder (HL2 Mod)

This game will definitely become very popular, very quick upon it's release. Though, that's the issue: no one knows when it will be released. Developer, writer, graphic artist, programmer, and genius, Mister Royzo, has been working hard on this mod for a little over a year now. However, he has seemed to drop off of the face of the planet, fans of this mod are baffled, and growing extremely impatient. The mod implements quite a few original ideas into gameplay, and even the plot is pretty original itself. Give the page a look for more information upon this mod.

Afraid of Monsters (HL1 Mod)

Let me put it to you this way: Afraid of Monsters is a game that is best played without your pants. This game will leave you frustrated, scared shitless, and paranoid to turn any fucking corner in the game. This masterpiece was created by Andreas Ronnberg, or the head of Team Psyskaller, or the team who brought you Cry of Fear. Give it a go, at 3am, sound up all the way, without any lights on. Where this game lacks in graphics, it makes up more than enough in atmosphere, sound, and difficulty. Good luck.

Paranoia (HL1 Mod)

Based on the story of a Russian Officer, and what he has endured on the mission you play through in this mod. The game itself is strictly in Russian, apart from language barriers, this game kicks ass. Even then, the language and voice adding adds tremendously to the atmosphere of this mod. Would definitely suggest anyone who is a big fan of horror, give this game a go.

GoldenEye: Source (HL2 Mod)

Huge nostalgia trip for anyone who is interested in replaying GoldenEye, only revamped through the Source Engine. Need I say more?

MISERY (S.T.A.L.K.E.R Mod)

Not much is known about this mod from my perspective. If you own S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat, I'd suggest giving this mod a go. From what I understand, it's very similar to L.U.R.K, only for CoP. Warning: A high-end PC is required to run this mod.
