That's so untrue. I live in america. people are allowed to choose if they want to get an education, a job, family, etc. Sure, we don't get the choice of punching Ben Bernanke in his fucking lying scumbag throat, or reinstating safety net laws regarding the stock market, but if some one is miserable, it is because of their choices

EDIT: but of course, happiness within a fixed society with laws can be limited

Actually, I'd really like to know if sadists can get a kick out of hurting someone who wants to be hurt. I'm scared to look it up in case it gets me put on some kind of watch list.

I think that would be fairly interesting to study I guess, maybe if the "victim" who wanted to get hurt acted like he/she didn't want to all for the sake of the sadist's pleasure
