Guilty Crown and Code Geass are similar when you put the aesthetics side by side (ex. the mechs, the time period, rebels vs government, some of the action), but the overall development of the story and the nature of the characters are drastically different. In Code Geass, the protagonist forms sort of his own legion and acts as a bold leader. In Guilty Crown, the protagonist is closer to a grunt than anything else. Their motives for participating in their respective rebellions are also very different. I can see how someone can say one is a rip off of the other, but it's not right as they are mostly original in their own way. Guilty Crown still sucks though. If you can convince me that the MC won't be a panzy for the next seven episodes then maybe I'll think about picking it up again.

I was waiting for Javelin to actually come up with an argument so I can tell him he's wrong. Thanks for taking the fun out of it. -.-
You probably shouldn't bother, he doesn't really stay a pansy but he is consistently annoying and continuously flawed. A lot of the time I could see what they were going for, hence my opinion of 'beautiful themes', but how annoying he is, especially in the context of the story, is pretty rage inducing throughout the whole show.

Watch the rest of the anime he becomes a savage i'm telling you and in the end he really becomes a boss

Yeah, he becomes a 'boss' in the final few episodes. Considering the nature of the show it's not surprising. But that doesn't change the fact that he is an extremely flawed character for the most part of the series, and his development often makes no sense or comes across as contrived due to a plot that's down right silly at times.

I've watched half of it and thought it was pretty good, but I didn't finish it because I thought I'd be able to get more out of the visual novel since VN's are usually pretty good when it comes to thriller. I haven't got to it yet though.
