Ok so being the horrible person that I am, I lied about forgetting about the last scene.

It got me going "wtf" so after careful deliberation and dabating with myself, I have decided to watch the next episode. Now, keep in mind, today is Sunday and I have no friends. So, due to lack of activity, and getting another itch after the next episode, I watched the one after that.

Basically, I concluded that following my own suggestion was a form of masochism, even though at the same time a form of loyalty. Knowing myself to be a normal man, a member of the human species that is well-known to be a race of liars and monsters, I went with my instinct and finished True Tears.

I'm sorry comrades. I am just a man.

Okay, so I've finished True Tears seeing as Smile is a whore and I only have one thing to say. Why did that raccoon never get the other chicken? Did he decide that he's just kick the story off and then bail to never be seen again and waste a perfectly easy meal? I'm calling bullshit.

Well, it's better than Glasslip but ain't got shit on NagiAsu.

I wonder why the Raccoon left the other chicken to this day
it might be one of anime's greatest mysteries
slightly behind the evangellion ending
well anyway that experiment failed on account of smile having 0 self control, was good while it lasted though, generated some nice discussion

Well I thought True Tears was sweet and at least gave me a bit of satisfaction in the end, but I think the fact that all of it happened because of someone that's supposed to not be retarded said something retarded was retarded. I don't even know why the retarded character said the retarded thing. It just doesn't make sense.

And it got into unnecessary uncomfortable territory around the end which really contributed very little, by adding a silly reason as to why a certain character wanted to follow a certain idealistic chicken's dreams.

Also, as sad as I am to not follow my own proposal, I think we can learn a bit from it. Instead of watching x episodes per x days, wouldn't it have been better if we set a timeline and by the end of it everyone willing to participate should have already finished, so that discussion can be made after the end? It eliminates the risk of just being too impatient, and those that want to have a fresh memory of the anime can just finish it around the time of the end. Although the discussion won't be episode per episode, it still gives a bit more discussion than "hey any of you watched x?"

I'm actually swamped with work, and most of the free time I've had to watch anime I've been doing to keep up with this season. As soon as I get a free day, I'm going to try to marathon True Tears to catch up.

I gave it an 8 out of 10 on mal
I think it's definitely good enough to recommend to people but it's not the first thing that would come to mind if I were to think about my favorite romance anime ever
also smile, idk how you missed this but you did

As for everything else, shrug, I only rewatched up to episode 4 before everyone just decided to finish the thing and I didn't really want to have to rewatch it a third time for pretty mucgmuch no reason now, so my memory is hazy on some of those details

I just read the final chapter of Liar Game last night.

Cop Out. Totally called it. I'm inclined to believe Kaitani was forced to wrap it up because there was an actual character arc going on but by the time they reached the final game, the host is all "Nope, this is the final game. Forget the scores we've been keeping, THIS IS IT. This game solidifies and finalizes every convoluted scoring scheme we've had thus far." Not to mention that the final game was boring and too easy (though a little exciting still, just lazy I guess). Nao and Akiyama's characters were flat as a board in the Finals and Nao barely had any contribution as opposed to previous games where she tries.

The explanation for the Liar Game itself is revealed in the final chapter. I want to say Deus Ex, but really I'm just glad it actually ended as Kaitani is known to hiatus it for years. I was barely listening to the explanation behind it so I could actually care less about it. The ending though is just hilarious because it means that everything they've done till this point was a complete waste of time, which like I said doesn't really matter to me because I never really saw it as Akiyama vs the LGT. Whatever, fans are certainly going to be pissed off anyway I'm sure, although I'm getting surprisingly a number of positive reactions to it.

I mean, for the majority of Liar Game, they kinda always were flat characters.

Is there any prominent character in the entire games?

Dont get me wrong, they kinda are. But Nao had a transition. She used to be timid, useless, and annoying. It took awhile but she grew out of that ghetto and started becoming her own woman. In the Finals, this is severely downplayed with Akiyama merely writing it off as "She has made me like this. She has won the game for us all."

And Akiyama in his own right is truly flat. But hey, he's the freaking genius of the story and its all very believable so I'm fine with that. But in the Finals, this is severely downplayed as "..." No seriously. After the Final game, he just stfu's like the answer to everything was one big joke. And it was. He makes a quip in the end, making us beleive he knows more than he's letting on and yeah okay I'll take it. I'll take this ending for what it is.

Btw have you read the finale yet?

Flat doesn't mean uninteresting. They're awesome, they just don't serve any kind of growth. Most of the major players are badass intellectuals in their own right.
