Why'd you guys like it so much? At face value I'm worried evil loli nazis might be a bit to edgy for me.

Well, Youjo Senki did have evil loli nazis. It was part of its charm, mostly for me though, I liked warfare in general. Tactics and all, the novel its based on is said to delve deeper into that but I haven't tried it.

I got a new computer and never reinstalled skype :/ and no discord, I'll pm you my fb details if you'd like, sorry for being afk for so long.
I actually just finished marathoning konosuba earlier today, I liked it more than I care to admit. Is LWA just more of the same as the OWA?

Smile doesn't like LWA. I don't think it's bad, but it's definitely lacking. I didn't watch the short film.

Everyone likes Konosuba more than they'd like to admit.

There was almost nothing good last year. The season that just passed had a rakugo anime that was alright. Youjo Senki is a guilty pleasure, but you're probably not going to get much out of it outside of superficial satisfaction. Dragon maid-sama is cute. It's kyoani.

Join the discord my man. Though Jutsu still doesn't like you.

yeah man pm me your facebook

LWA is yeah pretty much LWA, but the fact that it's gonna have twenty something episodes obviously means not every second is mindblowing animation. It's still well-animated though. Like Raptor said though I don't like it and it's simply because I just don't like Akko as a character. The original short films are nice because you go in there with the intention of watching something short and fun. It changes though when it becomes a whole series because you'd expect more depth and development from it, and it gets frustrating when you keep watching a character, no matter how endearing, fuck up in the same way over and over again after every single episode. At least, that's the case for me. Like, I can't enjoy it for what it is because I fixate on this and kind of ignore the parts that are supposed to be good. It would be fine if like, she's treated like how Spongebob is treated in his show (i.e. hurr I'm dumb hurr), but she's constantly thrown in situations where she faces self-doubt or she faces the reality of her abilities which I think are opportunities for maturity and growth, and yet she always comes out the other end the same, stubborn idiot, ready to do something retarded again because she unintentionally did something good somewhere in the middle of her shenanigans.

But again, this is just me. I think it still has some of the same charms of the two short films so you might find it fun like others do.

I was actually on the fence about watching that rakugo one, while my ovaries love a smattering of josei I'm not really big on historical pieces. Is that more just the setting or is it a big part of the story?

Eh, they're a bit to fast paced for my liking. And I wouldn't have it any other way :P

Well, it depends how you define big. Like it's certainly relevant and helps develop the setting and characters, but I don't think I'd define it as historical. S2 is not historical at all.

I'm pretty sure that was me, not Smile.

I have.

So, anyone else think that the 2016-17 Berserk anime might be some kind of performance art masterpiece designed to make viewers experience suffering on a level comparable to Guts'?

It's the only explanation I can think of for how disturbingly awful it is.

Nah I love it now. I'm pretty sure I've already said so even before you turned ghost. Raptor's the only one who dislikes Toradora now.

I haven't started with the second season yet, but I honestly don't dislike it as much as everyone else does. Like, I'm not saying it's great because it's bad, but the story is still there and it's not impossible to get used to the 3D to an extent. I'm not saying you can just ignore the horrible animation, but from what I've seen I think it's paced well-enough and is mostly faithful to the source. If not for the art and animation, it would have been a decent adaptation imo.

Again, it's really sad that a manga whose strengths include the consistently incredible art get an adaptation that's animated worse than hentai. I'm just saying.

The CG animation style, art, soundtrack, sfx... I can overlook all of that to a degree. Especially considering that I know I'm nitpicking to a degree since I'm used to regular anime.

I can't, however, overlook skipping an entire plot arc. Given that, it's hard for me to say it's faithful to the source at all. I can't overlook constant disorienting camera pans, awkward shot angles, and janky stiff movements, either. It's just poor quality work. It's bizzarre that one of the most successful manga of all time has to endure this kind of mangling. Why the fuck does the director of Teekyu have anything to do with Berserk in the first place, anyway? Stick to your cute-girls-doing-cute-things you fucking hack.

In other news, I think Overlord is getting a second season.
