Quote from Tenma Shinobi LeoI think RHG could use some spice to make it more competitive since people aren't challenging each other as much lately. Maybe a legit reward for winning or specific themes or storylines for battles.
Though, the lack of battles is probably just because we still don't have a portal in stickpage...
Quote from JomboWhat's the problem with this? In order for an RHG to start both people have to accept. If someone who's been animating for 2 days decides to fight against someone with 4 years of experience, that's their choice for committing suicide. It'll be an easy battle for the other guy. If someone with lots of experience challenges someone with little experience, the other person does not have to accept. If he doesn't want his ass punched, he can decline. Simple.
There doesn't need to be a separation in "skill level". First of all, its almost impossible to determine skill level because everyone can create their own styles, meaning there can be extreme varieties in animations. Secondly, separating people by skill level will bring a whole wave of shitty "hey I'm better than you" attitude to this forum, even from people who've probably made nothing but lolsmooth 5 second tests. And thirdly, why the hell would we limit the amount of gladiators people are allowed to challenge? What if nobody wants to challenge anyone in the beginner level? Or even better, what if a beginner doesn't want to challenge other beginners because he wants to improve?
Also I found it funny how the poll asked "What do you want to have in the RHG system?" and the choices include "Overpowered RHGs", "Biased voting", etc.

Quote from Jombo1. Reword that another way because I don't really understand. Its annoying that a lot of "better" people have more points than you? Are you annoyed that they're winning battles and you're not? Maybe you need to choose more suitable people to battle with. The whole points system is screwed up anyway. But yeah, reword that because I'm not sure what you mean.
2. There is no correct way to animate. If someone animates differently from the norm, how is he ranked? There's nobody to compare him to. Comparing animators to other animators is a pretty disastrous thing to do anyway. It deters people away from animating because they begin to depreciate their own work instead of just having fun with it. We don't need need to give people a ranking to make them feel shitty about themselves. Go to DarkDemon and tell me there aren't any traces of elitism there from their whole "ranking" system.
You're also forgetting that its a person's choice to choose who he wants to battle. If he wants to have a shitty battle as a opposed to a fair one, that's his decision. There's no point in forcefully limiting people to not battle people "too good" or "not good enough" for them. If both people have to accept, both people are fine with it.
Quote from JomboEven if a lot of people just battle for the points, its not to hard to decline - or simply ignore - their request. Unless you're getting over a hundred requests every day, they shouldn't be too hard ignore or delete them. I don't mind all the requests anyway, makes me feel like I'm actually worthy of a battle. :p
Smoothness and fluidity are actually things that are too highly praised. What happened to execution or story lines or ideas? These are all completely forgotten because people are too worried about their "smoothness" and only barf out running test #8747832. Anyway, even general factors can be mixed around with and still be result in an entertaining animation. Entertainment level is the only factor that really needs to be worried about. Everything else can be flushed down the drain. Whatever gets you the votes.
The point system is tough to manage. I have talked to people about it, I'm not sure why you assumed I've only been complaining about it lol. Its probably something that should be correctly implemented after the merge is over. There's just a lot of things going on right now that the best thing to do is just have people try to manage their own points.
Also I wasn't comparing us to DarkDemon. Stickpage was never brought up. We don't even have ranks, so how can I compare DarkDemon's ranks with us? You missed my point too. Let me reword: Go to DarkDemon - or any website that has animation ranks - and tell me there aren't any traces of elitism from their whole "ranking" system.
And finally, none of this is relevant to what we're talking about. I still don't really see a reason why ranks would be a good idea.
finally, I like bunnies :3 (by DiPi)
Quote from JomboWell you haven't made your point clear. What about better people at animating? I don't even know where I stand in this anymore because I don't get what this is about anymore.
And in any case,
This is all irrelevant, because it has nothing to do with your original point, which was
#2 is now about what is and isn't a measurable ranking factor, #3 is now about the pointing system if its hard or not hard to manage, #4 is about whether or not I am comparing Stickpage to DarkDemon. None of this has anything to do with:
Meaning that none of that relates or supports your point towards "better people at animating". Therefore it is irrelevant.
Now, say your original point again so we can get this back on track. Start it with "I think that..." or something similar.
And to #1: Fair enough.
Quote from Dronedipi, i dont think you can ban people from threads first of all, and if you could, even so, its not your thread, and even if it was, jombo is a mod :L
Quote from JomboMight have just been a misunderstanding of you're point, which you still haven't made clear by the way, but regardless I'm booting myself from this thread. Out to go get lunch.
Create another thread for other things.
