AUGUST BURNS RED
Here is an oldie favourite of mine, August Burns Red. A Metalcore band with quite a few years on its neck. I think today, if you don't know about August Burns Red you don't know anything about Metalcore.
Ever since Bullet for My Valentines big success, I think most have gotten Metalcore all wrong confusing it as 100% Metal only meant for scene kids which sprung up from an ENTIRELY DIFFRENT sub-genre of POP-PUNK, but on the other hand, once Metalcore actually began existing bands in the genre made a choice to make their sound more to Hardcore or Heavy Metal or go off in another direction. If I could pin the ratio of Hardcore/Metal in August Burns Red, it has to be 40%/60%. What I like about ABR is mainly the guitar play and composition, how the song progresses and the vocals distinct sound.
The guitar players of August Burns Red play very much melodic with a "brutal/aggressive" rythm-guitar for that Hardcore punch, with the occational gang shouts and breakdown, unlike most bands in this genre, they don't overdo them nor cover entire songs by breakdowns which I find a good thing.
Don't get me wrong, I love Breakdowns, but too much of it is bad and is a cheap way of making the song progress and August Burns Red supply the proper amount of it not letting the entire band be about mindless rythm-chugging.
So here is a band I recommend to everyone who likes the goodie ol' MxC
Songs I recommend:
Happy Listening!
I think I may do more of these if mods allow! c:
