but on the saxophone, u just have to move ur fingers.....meanwhile on the drum u have to do fill-ins play with a double bass pedal, and open and close the hi-hat, without stopping, and the longest song that my band does is about 14 minutes long

Yeah, it's so hard to beat a bunch of circular objects to make noises with carefully carved sticks, I'd never be able to do that!

You've never played drums before, either.

Yeah, it's so hard to blow into a reed and press a bunch of buttons to make noise. I'd never be able to do that!

Don't dumb shit down to make it sound easy, you jackass.

To be fair, has anyone who commented played both instruments extensivly? My younger brother plays guitar, trumpet and drums. He dropped the trumpet and drums to concentrate on guitar but he found drums harder when I asked him.

I play drums and have found that it is quite difficult to swich from 16th to 8th notes then back will keeping a steady tempo. Never played a wind instrument.

I've played both of them, yes, but not for years. Saxophone and Trumpet are probably the furthest from the same instrument. They're close in difficulty though.

I don't know, it might be opinion-based.

1-e-and-a-2-e-and-a is the 8th note beat. The 16th is merely doubling up on the speed. I've done it, but it is hard to keep the same tempo over time when you haven't been playing drums for quite some time.

1-e-and-a-2-e-and-a-3-e blah blah is the 16th note beat. :P

1 and 2 and 3 and 4 is the 8th note.

When you been playing for a while, it's really easy to "change gears"

I play drums at school. Plus I have a drumkit.

@ Exile: I'm not trying to make it easy. Guitar is hard enough. Trumpet is hard too, and when playing the saxophone, it's almost exactly like playing a trumpet.

Besides, in Saxophone, these's all this EFGABCDEFEFGABCDEFOMGWTFBBQSAUCE stuff in all those wind instruments, and drums is just rhythm.

The Saxophone is way harder. The Drums are easier, and more fun playing with :D

Guys seriously. Stop debating this. It's ****ing stupid. Playing an instrument is more than just hitting the right notes at the right time. If you ask two people, an inexperienced drummer and a good drummer to play a simple beat it will sound amazingly different. Even if they both hit the same drums at the same time. It's something about the feeling the experienced drummer is able to generate. And things like that can't be measured.
